Finally I own a PS3!

I finally own one. My package just came from Amazon and I have it set up. Its updating with the latest firmware right now. Its not as big as I thought it would be. Im gonna go download some demos soon to keep me busy for a while. I need to save my money, and lay off on purchasing games right now bc I spent close to $1500 bc of this. PS3 forced me to finally go and get a 32" HDTV for my bedroom, which got shipped to my house yesterday just in time for my PS3. My local library has PS3 titles for borrowing so Im going to check out their selection. Anyways, just thought Id share that I am now an official PS3 owner and can actually post now based on experience.

Some questions. How do you delete downloaded data and how do you remove items from the download queue?

I played the Motorstorm demo and tried using the motion sensing on the SIXAXIS and boy is that thing sensitive. I had to turn it off bc I couldnt move correctly with it. I hope most games with this feature arent like this

Press Triangle on the downloaded data then there should be a delete option. And not sure on that second question.

And yeah, avoid using the SIXAXIS motion control with Motorstorm. It's horrible, and you'll get your ass kicked online.

Were you on the bike or the truck? Give it a chance because once you adjust to it it works much better then the sticks. Try it with the truck first to get the hang of it.

To delete stuff highlight it hit triangle and select delete.

I dont know why but reading this thread made me wanna buy a PS3 even more! I cant wait. I'll be getting it when I get back home (in about a month).
It costs 630euros with either Resistance or Motorstorm...Maybe they'll have a better offer, in a month when I'll be getting it.

EDIT: Do you think I should wait until they release the new controller? Will it be worth it and when will it be released? Also will it come with a new version of the console or will it only be available separately?

what do you guys do to make PS2 games look better bc they look like crap on my LCD. The upscaling doesnt really seem all that different either

There are 3 options.

Network > System Settings > Cross Color Reduction Filter On/Off

Basically that blurs/softens the screenimage additionally to prevent color overbleed or something. But it REALLY oftens the screen who knows at how your PS2 games will look with it on, but I'd advice not using that for PS3 games or anything.

Network > Game Settings > PS2 Upscaling On/Off
Network > Game Settings > PS/PS2 Smoothing On/Off

Are the two things for making PS2 games look a bit better. Both upscaling, and smoothing seems to add some form of AA, not smear the textures like the old PS2 did.

Until you choose the upscaler your PS/PS2 games will be running in 480i on your HD TV.

I wouldn't worry about the controller right now, they'll most likely do what they did with the PS1 and release rumbling analog controllers seperately as well for like $20-30. It's probably going to be awhile before they release them, closer to Christmas if not a year or two away.

Whats the deal with Playstation cards?

I wouldnt worry too much about the controller either. Rumble was one of the main reasons why i was holding off on getting a PS3, but I figured I would get a 2nd controller anyway so I just got the PS3 and will hold off buying a 2nd controller till the rumble one comes out. I will use that one and 2nd player will just have to deal with using the SIXAXIS which is a pretty good controller anyway

It's the same thing as the Wii points cards you can buy to download stuff from the virtual console. Except you go in and buy a card worth a certain amount. Japan already has them and they were suppose to be on in America 6 months ago. I can just use my credit card, but I hate charging things to a credit card.
