    Hello Hype People
Any Brown Coats around here. I have not seen a thread for this series yet so I thought I would put one on here. This was a great show which became a good movie. Do you think it was canceled before it time? Any fav moments from the show?

I did like the show better than Buffy or Angel's first season, so in that regard I'd say it was the best. But yeah, there's already a Jossverse thread. Still, it's been a while since I've seen it, so it might not hurt to start a new one.

I still think Buffy season 2 is the pinnicle in the Jossverse.

Cool, as long as no one minds lets keep the Joss stuff going then. Untill firefly came along my fav Joss stuff was Buffy season 3. Whatever was the (in firefly) preachers secret all about. I understand that he must of worked with the alliance and maybe was an agent of some kind maybe for Blue Sun but I never really found out. Any ideas?

If it ran longer, i'd wager that it would've usurped Angel as my favorite Joss show.

As far as first seasons go, however, it totally blows Buffy and Angel out of the water.

Remember the Operative with the sword from the movie? Well, I think Book used to have that guy's job, but after a while he couldn't deal with all the killing so he became a preist.

That is a most excellent theory. It would make sense. So far it’s the best I have heard or come up with on my own.
I previously thought that he might have been a chief science guy responsible for the environment changes on alliance worlds that make humans overly obedient until they relax to death and he his now repenting. But that’s a bit of a stretch.....

I agree that it could have been the best stuff from Joss, but it was too short to really judge.

I think that Book was an Operative too, and that he had something major to do with helping the Alliance win the war (which is one of the reasons he is so adament about no ttelling the crew about his past).

Whos your fav character from the show? I have to say Jane for sheer fun factor but also Mal. Mal and Jane are the first no bulls**t characters to appear on anything from Joss so far.

I have a soft spot for Kaylee. After her, it'd be a tie between Mal and Wash.

Firefly was probably my favorite show Joss put out, but I only watched the second and third seasons of Buffy, and as far as I'm concerned, he shot himself in the foot with Serenity. I loved it, and I consider myself a Browncoat, but I don't think I'd get as much enjoyment out of a Firefly or Serenity 2 without Wash. In lots of different ways, he, Kaylee, and Simon made the show for me. The three least-hardened characters, and definitely my favorites.

As a side note, Jewel Staite played a semi-Goth girl in a first-season episode of Dead Like Me. It's pretty unnerving seeing her in so much black after seeing her as Kaylee in Shindig.

Firefly was awesome. I personnally didnt think the movie was as good as the TV show, but it was still pretty damn awesome. My favorite character is either:

Book = Just love him. And his Einstein hair!
    Jayne = So much fun
Simon = He reminds me of myself.

I think the lack of Wash and Book now hurt the series if it could continue. I like that River can fly the ship but I will miss Wash and his dinosaurs. What did you think of the villan in Objects In Space, I think his name was Early. I thought he was cool / creepy.

Early, as far as I can tell, was a prototype for the Operative. I wish there would've been more contact with Jayne, since they seemed to be pretty similar.

Jayne is a cool charater also. Liked it when he betrayed the crew and Mal has him in the air lock. Pretty gritty stuff. Early got beat to easy I thought.

I would've liked to see Jayne fighting more. Maybe against someone like Early or the Operative, but he always found himself missing out on the physical matches. And that fight with River in Serenity is one that I, personally, would not really be ashamed of losing (OUCH!).

I liked Book and was looking forward to possibly finding out more about his past, but maybe if there's a Serenity 2, the crew might find something from Book's previous life that sends them on a quest to stop a threat from Book's past and also discover who and what he was before becoming a Shepard.

Well, there is the possibility of either some made for TV movies on Sci-Fi or new episodes on On Demand. Either way, I'd like to see an episode where they meet someone who knew Book (possibly his brother or sister), and learn from that person (via flashbacks) Book's story.

    I'm a brown coat.

I hope they make another movie based on this show, because I'd love to see it live on as a movie trilogy.
