Spawn's "The Homecoming" issue 31 in 1995. I was six years old. Damn, I'm a badass. :word:

It was probably in 1994. My mom took me to CostCo and bought me a bulk stack of comic books by DC. I distinctly remember the Reign of Supermen issue where Superman gets his powers back being in the mix. There was also a Martian Manhunter comic wherein all he did was go to the store, buy some snacks, and return to his apartment while thinking to himself.

was

And yes, it was brand new then

Was it brand new then?
Oh yeah brand spanking new, looks like crap now, but i still love it.
so i take it you must be an Aquaman fan right? Arthur has always been cool in my book.

The first comic I ever went out and bought myself with my own money (versus begging my parents) was Generation Next #1 from the Age of Apocalypse storyline.

And I bought every single one after that. I loved that comic.

April 1993. I was 9...wow...

My friend was reading Punisher comics and I thought I'd give comics a shot myself. So I went with him to our comic shop and bought this issue. Why? Because the only thing I "knew" about comics at the time was that a #1 issue of ANY comic series would be worth MILLIONS one day. :p

But man...what a perfect first story to try! :)

Not a huge fan, but I always give any book that he's in a fair shot. Often times more than not I'm left disappointed.

Nice to see that I'm not the only "old" hypster

I was camping with my parents and it was raining. They had a general store in the campground and of course, camping sucks in the rain. I was totally bummed and walked up to the store for some candy. Looking for gummi worms or something... anyway, I didn't know much of Spider-Man outside of "The Electric Company" so I bought this instead and I was hooked. I was 12 and have been reading Amazing Spider-Man for the last 18 years.

just keeping the faith my friend.
:cwink:

hmmmFunny how everybody's 1st book so far is Spiderman. Spidey has quite the following

A faintly remembered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle comic book in 1988 that was read and re-read...traced out of...and eventually thrown away by the parents (I still havent forgave them).

My next batch of comics that I bought were Detective Comics #642 and Marvel's Ghost Rider vs Punisher (GR issues #5 and #6) at a yard sale when I was 11.

Spidey's a good character to start off with. It's nice to see that those who are younger started with a good quality character with alot of back story.

Only 5 out of 11 people posting as of your post started with Spidey.:huh:
hmmm lets see
5 for Spidey
6 for ALL DIFFERENT characters
i would say the odds are pretty much in favor of Spidey thus far, but i appreciated you pointing out what i said
and now back to our reqular scheduled program
hehe

Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #10 sometime in the early 60's (I have it boxed away, so can't give the exact date)....it was the first series I collected.
