20 mins in and this boring AF.
You don't get it! You need to play all the games and read the the entire wiki to understand it!For a movie I've recently been told for kids, they spend quite a bit of the opening I can only imagine boring them out of their mind.
It's less about needing to be legitimized and more that a well reviewed film is less likely to be ****ing horrible than a negatively reviewed one. They weren't out of touch with Mario, they were entirely correct about Mario. The critic reviews were embarrassingly out of touch with Mario. I'm not asking for stuff like this to be graded on a curve but at the very least have an ounce of self awareness when reviewing this stuff. I've always found the Hype's obsession with critical reception to be very strange. They feel the need to have these IPs they like to be legitimatized by the tastemakers for whatever reason.
Is this an invitation to watch Spinning Gold?![]()
40m opening day plus previews. Dropping like BvS over the weekend.Deadline.com is projecting a $78M weekend at the BO. Pretty good for a flick that was also/simultaneously released on streaming.
I saw and reviewed the movie. IMHO it wasn't scary, and while the practical effects looked good, the animatronic creatures weren't terrifying.
Also, the story was very clunky and badly conceived. I appreciate they were faithful to the games and the lore, but the movie was very clunky and the plot was not cohesive. I'd say Dan Murrell was pretty on point with his review.
But it's all opinion at the end of the day. The fans seem to really like the movie, so good on 'em.
Yeah… Given the (limited?) fanbase and poor reviews, this seems like the type of movie with a frontloaded box office. Still… the producers must be pleased to have essentially broken even after the first day — and to be booking a profit after the first weekend. Do doubt, the makers of (say) The Creator, Blue Beetle or A Haunting in Venice would trade their grand totals for a Five Nights at Freddy's opening.40m opening day plus previews. Dropping like BvS over the weekend.
For a second I thought that was you in the video.
With an A- cinemascore it might not drop that hard next week even if it's frontloaded.40m opening day plus previews. Dropping like BvS over the weekend.
