Just bought the latest issue today.

Who's reading? what do you think?
I’m digging this book right now, I like how its just doing its own weird thing w/ this time travelling arc.

interesting stuff. When GG told spidey there were 6 junctions where he coulda gone one way or another...what do you think the four were after ben's and gwen's death?...and had the GG actually taken spidey to the junction where he could have saved gwen? (ie did peter actively choose not to save her in that scene even though GG gave him the oppurtunity?) and who was the guy in the last scene who looked alot like Ben but shot?

Yeah i didn't understand alot i guess.

My review from the Bought/Thought thread in the Marvel Comics forums...

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #10... meh... not bad, but but not great. A few continuity references that I always love to see, but truth be told, I'm glad this story's over. I hope PAD is smart enough to avoid the "Uncle Ben goes bad" storyline, because even though he's not the REAL Uncle ben, it simply shatters the image of the nice respectable man we've all grown up to admire.

didnt buy the latest issue but will.PAD the man! love this arc and it ended in just 3 issues right? :o Wow, didnt stretch it to 6? thank god :)

anyway can anyone give me spoilers from #10? thanx

Pretty interesting issue.

I'll tell you I'm a little bit worried about the whole
Uncle Ben "hanging around for a while"
thingy, but I'm willing to see how things go.

And was I the only one to see the jab that David took against JMS's stories this issue? Spidey 2011 is part of the Temporal Oversight Team Eliminating Mistakes group? mwahaha That's classic.

Thanks to the eyebrows in the newspaper panels, I saw the whole "surprise" about who the bum was the moment I saw the eyebrows. The surprise to me is what Ben did in the last few panels...

I gotta say, this story ended in a way I never saw coming. Gotta respect that. I just hope the stray character doesn't end up being something I regret happening.

awwwe, man -- i just logged on to say about the TOTEM thing too... u beat me to it imdaly. i'll get you for this. i'll get youuuuuuuuuu.......

and,um, can somebody explain to me the last panel? the man with the gun WAS uncle ben? so how come there were two? i dont understand :( Looks like it'll be some ongoing story, which is cool. i love the time travelling stuff.

Well... I didn't hate it... and that's saying something these days... but I didn't really like it either. I just don't care about the story that much. I don't know why... It just hasn't made me care what happens.

Part of it may be that I was totally lost on that last page. I mean... what the heck is going on there?? There are TWO Uncle Bens? And one just SHOT the other and one of the several potential Spider-Men?? Huh? I flipped back and forth a bit and then just closed the book. Not a clue... but who really cares. :(

I think the book sucks. It's just as bad if not worse than Millar's MKSM. Just more Spidey trash and destined to be cut from my list after Civil War.

Get REAL. That's blasphemy. Millar's MKSM was 100 times better than this! It was a page turning, breath holding, heart in your throat GOOD, classic Spider-Man story! Yeah, the ending was weaker than it should have been, given the build-up, but it STILL overall rocked!

THIS story... may-be the ending will pull the pieces together and make it relevant or meaningfull somehow... but right now, it's strange and CONFUSING and I'm just not into it. And, I really hope it doesn't just further screw up Spidey's world. :(

Okay, I see a lot of people didn't understand the last page of the issue. I think I actually understood it pretty easilly.

So Uncle Ben from another dimention was all down in the dumps about Jarvis and May, and he came across the mysterious hobo. Mr. Hobo gave Ben a gun and said "this will help you with your problems". Ben said he didn't think he could ever have that in him to do such a thing. Hobo explained that every time a big decision is made, an alternate universe splits off where whatever decision was made, the opposite decision was made in the new universe.

For example, in 616 Uncle Ben died. This created an alternate universe where Uncle Ben lived...which is where the Ben in our story came from.

Okay, so now we jump to the last couple pages and we see Ben looking all down in the dumps, and Spidey 2011 appears and tells Ben that it's not all over for him, that he's meant for great things, and that one person can change so much. While Spidey 2011 was meaning that Ben shouldn't give up on life because he has a lot to live for still, Ben took that as Spidey assuring him that Ben DOES have it in him to do what "needs" to be done, and that he's MEANT to do it.

Ben shoots Spidey 2011, and thanks him for his words of encouragement.

Now remember the little hobo from the alley? Well, turns out that he was yet another Uncle Ben from yet another alternate universe. Aaaand, since the one Uncle Ben LIVED, the other one did the opposite and died.

That's what I got from it anyway...

How the heck does he get "SHOOT ME" out of those words of encouragement?! That made NO sense...

HOW did the ALLEY BEN get there? WHERE did HE come from?

WHY would this WHIMPY BEN from the future (who was a perpetual doormat) suddenly decide that in order to stay in THIS miserable existance, MURDER was a good idea?!

WHY did ALLEY BEN (if that's who it was) have on a different hat when he was lying there in a pool of blood? The only thing that made me think it was Ben was the eyebrows.

Weird. :(

i get everything but this bit:

You mean because the uncle ben who shot spider-man 2211 lived the other died? That makes no sense because there was no situation where shooter uncle ben was about to get killed at the end of the arc. And even if he was about to die and survived then a new universe would split off where he died, the one in the alley in the same universe wouln't have died. There must be a reason a hobo uncle ben is there and he must have a reason for giving this ben a gun. My guess is we will find out later.

Hey, I didn't say it made complete sense. There are definite big plot-holes in the story (if I understood it correctly), but that's just what I think Peter David was trying to get across.

What did you make of the different HATS? Artist error? The first itme we see ALLY BEN he has on a ski cap. The BEN (?) lying in a pool of blood had on a baseball cap.

no offense but it doesn't really make any sense from that angle. My guess is it is meant to be unclear at this moment though and i'm sure peter david knows what is going on.

As for the hats...i noticed that but don't have a clue.

Hmm...didn't notice the hats...

geesh...well now I'm doubting that I got the ending to it either lol

the original ben this arc surrounded appeared wearing a baseball cap. therefore the ben this arc surrounded is dead in the alley and the ben that said "nothing matters" is alive and killing people. thats what i've got from it. also please dont judge this a loose thread, im sure PAD will return to it soon. itd be majorly cool to have an evil uncle ben. maybe him and winter soldier can team up? :p

oh yeah....i feel like a real tard for not getting this. It makes more sense cos it didn't seem like the uncle ben of this arc would have killed anyone even to stay in a universe where may existed.

i'm not so sure about this anymore...i went back through the whole arc and he's not wearing a baseball cap once...

I haven't read # 10 yet...but I was enjoying the current arc for what it was. Nothing spectacular but it's a fun story.

Spidey needs to snag one of those retcon bombs. :O

About 10 posts up. I haven't been able to get back here sooner. :P

I don't think the first twelve issues of Marvel Knights sucked. It started out really good and kept up momentum but as it go toward the end it had one of the most anti-climatic endings in all of comic book history.

Come on...hit by lightning? 11 issues of build up for THAT? Come on, Millar, you are better than that.

I didn't like a single thing in th' story. Except th' art. Loved th' art. That's about it.
