Footloose remake?! NOOOOOO!

They better still play tractor chicken in the remake.

UGH!!! Worst idea EVER. :cmad:

They made a "full-blown musical" of Footloose on Broadway a few years ago, and it was worst musical I've ever seen. It completed destroyed every important part of the movie.

Just leave the original alone. It was fine the way it is.

Yeah, I always thought it was strange that they would make a musical about a town that WASN'T ALLOWED OR EVEN KNEW HOW TO SING AND DANCE.

So I am guessing this is gonna be hip hop themed?

On one hand, I could imagine it being more Broadway-esque', on the other hand, with "modernizing" it, they could do that or even combine the two in some kind of unholy mix. :o

OK, now I'm going to ask..for the guys only. Was Footloose really that important to you growing up that a remake is bugging you? Or is it just jumping on the "i hate remakes" bandwagon? Because honestly...the movie was more for the chicks than anyone. It's classic 80's pop culture, but still....never really been a big thing with me.

I actually hate the living s**t out of Footloose, I think most people are on the bandwagon. Not that I can really blame them--would you rather have what will probably be a s**ty remake of a s**ty movie, or something actually original and good?

I too wanna whine and complain about something I have no control over and have nothing to do with, waaaaah.

This movie is not for you, move alone to those that are.

They should rename 'General Movies' to 'Whiners Central'

They're remaking Grease next year.

:cmad:

Footloose is not a chick flick. It was just another movie cashing in on the success of Flashdance. And, yeah, I love Footloose. Its a great movie.

Actually it is the opposite. Why waste time remaking this movie when the time and effort can be put into something original? I mean they are remaking Hairspray...HAIR****INGSPRAY. I mean regardless of the movie announced to be remade do you honestly ever expect to be any good? I am just glad they haven't decided on a movie I love yet. I am praying I never see the day where I see the headline "Jaws remake in the works"....ewwwwww. "With Paul Walker as Chief Brody"......ewwwww ****.

They didn't remake Hairspray so much as they made the actual good Broadway show into a movie. :o

PS: Poor Efron, counting this and HSM3 would be his 5th straight musical. :o

Oh, and also all the *****y ass whining about remakes is so childish and immature.

They never try to replace the original. The original is still there. The remake doesn't tarnish the original if it sucks. If anything it should just make you appreciate the original film more.

I agree about remakes "making you appreciate the original more."

So how would you resolve all the b**ching over unnecessary sequels that no one's really asking for?

Eh. I like sequels if they are necessary. I like seeing familiar characters in new adventures.

First image, well sort of.

Cat is cute. :yay:

The idea of a remake for this film seems a bit preposterous. Doesn't all 50 states permit dancing by now?

And it's odd seeing Dennis Quaid playing the John Lithgow role. He seems way too young for that.

I forgot this thread existed. I had so much anger issues 3 years ago.

Kenny Loggins better be a part of this soundtrack, or I'll rage out. :cmad:

I don't know who could top that classic. But with our luck, probably Miley or some other Disney singer.:o

This isn't a Disney movie, so don't worry.

Trailer and first poster:

Seems pretty faithful to the original -- the train track scene, Renn dancing in the warehouse, and the tractor chicken scene is redone with different vehicles. Looks like Kenny Wormald is even wearing Kevin Bacon's prom outfit at one point.
