Lately, every time I go onto these forums, my cpu starts to slow down (Windows 7) and everything is laggy. Is there a way I can just turn off all ads and images on these webpages? I turned off avatars and signatures but that does no good. How can I access a text only version of the website?

Have had similar issues over the last couple days. About 50% of the time when I load a page on this site it takes me back to the previous page I was on or just comes up that it was unable to connect.

You need an adblocker that is capable of blocking specific elements within a web page. Specifically those stupid popups...
The ads themselves are handled quite well by most adblockers.

It isn't going to be the forums themselves but the ads and all the bull**** associated with them that are slowing the site down. Retro said it best: find a good adblocker (uBlock or uBlock Origin, AdGuard AdBlocker, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, NoScript all for Firefox and/or Chrome or some variation between them).

    Yup. Adblocker is the way.

    Thanks everyone.

I'll try Ublock or one of the others and see if helps.

I had to do a lot of finagling to get this site to work with an ad blocker, but it does finally work.

I just tried Ublock and the site is actually navigable now. Funnily enough, the first time I went on SHH prompted me to "whitelist" the website asking me to turnoff adblocker so I had to reload the page to get the prompt to not show.

I can't navigate this site anymore let alone try to do a post in here so I'm really liking this option being able to not have to wait for my cpu to unfreeze repetitively.
