Sequels FoX Cinematic Universe

That's not a particularly complex concept to put on paper. He and his co-writers managed to do it pretty well in THE LAST STAND when Wolverine had to watch Jean's descent, confront her, and ultimately recognize that he would have to kill her. And Jackman nailed the performance.

Point being: it's not only up to the writer to convince you of the moment, but also the director and actors involved.

Well when the writer and director are one and the same, you can understand when people are unwilling to give that trust.

Legion isn't even connected to the film series, so it doesn't matter if he plays Xavier or not.

Yeah, I don't know how people can see it as anything other than multiple timelines,

I find it easiest to look at it like this now i think...

TIMELINE 1a
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
X-Men
X2: X-Men United
X-Men 3: The Last Stand
The Wolverine

(and arguably include X-men First Class, Daredevil, Elektra, Fantastic Four and FF: Rise Of The Silver Surfer in there)

TIMELINE 1b
Logan (and about a quarter of anything else we've seen is true)

TIMELINE 2
"Legion" TV series (a slightly different world where mutants are only just becoming known to the government)

TIMELINE 3a (...and i'd throw the FF reboot in here just to write it off)
X-Men First Class
(Mystique assassinates Trask in 1973)
X-Men: Days Of Future Past (mutiple variants of future "A" due to Bishop time-travelling prior to Wolverine going back to 1973, leading to...)

TIMELINE 3b (until events in the films suggest otherwise...)
1962 - X-Men First Class
1973 - X-Men: Days Of Future Past
(1973 "B" - Wolverine changes events from the previous timeline and Mystique doesn't assassinate Trask)
1984 - X-Men Apocalypse
1990s - X-Men: Supernova ?

2015 - Deadpool

Deadpool 2 ?
New Mutants ?
"Gifted" TV series ?
X-Force ?
Gambit ?

2022 - X-Men: Days Of Future Past
(Wolverine wakes up in altered future "B")

:)

I will sure be glad when fox makes some announcements for future films like
titles,release dates,and cast and director

if deadpool sequel, new mutants, and next X-Men all are suspose to start filming in june/july with it being late march we are way due for something.

I wonder if they are having trouble finding directors interested in directing the main movies ? They have not been that well liked since DOFP & have not made much either & the timelines are a mess & could be confusing story wise & thats why they have been keeping everything in house for the most part & you have guys more interested in the spin offs with no direct ties to the main franchise. Which is likely why Kinberg is gonna drect Supernova & they would have more interest from other directors if the main franchise could be rebooted through them

There's only been one main series film since DOFP, so not much to go off on that one.

I don't think they would have trouble finding directors. Its just that the misguided trust that Fox has with Kinberg. The series is all over the place right now and Kinberg is partly responsible since he was hired to act Feige in this franchise.

He obviously got a renewal and now he's off to direct Dark Phoenix. Silly Fox. Watch him bury the X-Men next!

Two scoops two days in a row from Variety & HR. Deadline confirmation tomorrow?

Would be great if they finally confirm that New Mutants take place in the present day just like Deadpool and X-Force! More Mutants/films set in the present, the better!

I think it makes sense, especially if it's going to end up being a trilogy, as it frees it up from the decade-at-a-time progression of the current main X-Men series.

Definitely, and easier access to do a cross over with other properties.

Especially since they would have to be renamed Old Mutants in the third decade. lol

Don't give encouragement. Next thing, we'll be speculating or talking again about the possibility of members of the original cast returning, and we'll get more of that either way.

I wouldn't be shocked if they were not referred to as the new mutants at least once in the film, but not because of the same reason you would assume from the comics.

After all the synopsis said they would be “Held in a secret facility against their will" so whose to bet there won't be a doctor or something saying they brought in some "new mutants".

You're the one baiting with this post.

Besides no one's forcing you to read his posts, do what others do and just skip it.

In light of Henry Zaga's casting of Sunspot, I really doubt that New Mutants will be set in the present. Him being a teenager could mean the movie is set in either the 1980's or 90's.

Jubilee, Psylocke, Angel, Moira, Caliban, Deadpool would all beg to differ.

I mean, I'd like them to finally get their continuity straight but I'm not holding out hope.

At this point unless they plan on having the new mutants mix with the X-Men cast in a big way i doubt there is any reason for it to be in the past.

Because it is its own story in its own scenario i just don't see it mattering enough.

I also don't think cross overs will be the big thing for this franchise since i doubt there is enough communication so no one bothers touching on anyone elses territory.

Unless New Mutants come up with an explanation on how these characters could exist after Logan established that there hasn't been any mutant births in 25 years (meaning that the mutant population has been decreasing since 2004), there's no way that this movie is set in the future.

In general that could end up abit of an inconsistency issue that Logan has set up as i would be shocked if anyone holds to closely to that.
