X-Men: First Class was good but seriously what people wants is X-Men 4.

X-Men: First Class is kinda like flopping (I expectedit) and for a X-Men fan like me, its alarming.

Please Fox, no more The Wolverine and X-Men: Second Class. Just make an X-Men 4. And I'm afraid if X-Men: Second Class flopped, that might be the last X-film. Look what happened when Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer flopped, Fox abandoned on making a third film.

Nobody else has replied to this for a while so I think it's fairly safe to say the majority of people want X-men Second Class more than reliving the past with an X4.

I just think it's time is done. There's nothing wrong with something new.

Also X-men First Class has not flopped yet. It's box office is smaller than expected but it's on track to make a small profit. Considering it followed the critically lauded Wolverine it's to be expected and a secod class film with proper marketing from the start will do much better.

Fox abandoned making a third film to a floundering franchise. Big deal. That doesn't necessarily mean the studio's abandoned Fantastic Four entirely, as a reboot is supposedly in the works. Moreover, the X-Men franchise has proven much more lucrative than Fantastic Four ever did, and I doubt Fox would stop making X-Men movies no matter how poorly an X-Men movie does. If you're freaking out about First Class underperforming, I would hate to think how you would react to X-Men 4 underperforming, because there is very much a possibility of that happening too considering how much more X-Men 4 would cost.

I think it has more to do with this being discussed in other topics. I would MUCH prefer an X4.

I agree First Class was good and all but I would much much rather see all my fav characters back in a big way. And looks like that is exactly what will happen considering X4 is in development at Fox and talks of X5 are attached to it. First Class was a good change of pace but the genreal public wants Wolvie, Jean, Storm not some random team full of C-Listers.

The x-men franchise became flawed when Bryan Singer wasnt involved with the project...

Take First Class, X-Men 1 and X-Men 2, i view them as the Bryan Singer Trilogy, even though he didnt direct first class, i figure Vaughn complemented Bryan Singers vision of the first two x-men films.

you cant forget x-men 3, or wolverine origin movie but my opinion of the x-men franchise is that the mutant world we saw in x1-x3, was so limited... there was alot they could of thrown in without them just throwing in a character just for the sake of it.

so i see x-men 1 to 3 as taken place in an a very narrow x-men world and i think alot of fans were annoyed of that because there are so many complex things about the x-men.

first class... rejuvinated the franchise and basically gave it the kick into the bigger x-men world than we had previously seen. They need to follow First class into two more sequels before attempting x-men 4.

my thoughts are x-men 4 should take place way into the future, a future where alot of things have been established first. they simply havent done that with x-men 1 to 3 and so i feel x4 needs to exisit in a fresh new world.

lets say we follow the loosely canon based time line. the cast of x4 would be what? wolverine, storm, iceman, de-powered rogue, Shadow Cat, colossus and possibly angel.

I feel the way x3 left off there wasnt alot of options to story of where they could go, But if we include the wolverine movie and the first class movie, even though im not a fan of the wolverine movie of x3 for that matter, if anything i would say these movies have expanded the universe enough to make a more grown up idea of the x-men team.

We have introduced, Gambit, Beast, Sebastian Shaw, Riptide, all interesting characters into the mix.

if you look at the bigger picture, you could almost say they have introduced the characters necessary to make X-Men 4, more in line with the Animated Series from the 90's. Im not saying its an exact copy but think about it...

with the exception of Charles Xavier who was de-atomized, Phoenix who was killed and Cyclops who really we dont know what happened, only we are suggested that Phoenix killed him. So overall whose left

Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Beast, Jubilee is still in the background, they could re-introduce Gambit. There is alot of avenues they could choose.

However HERE IS THE BIG KICKER...

if they bring back some of the characters, bare in mind some of the actors who originally portrayed those characters have gotten older, by time x-men 4 comes out there would of been a 10 year gap.

so what other option do you have Recast and continue or why not Reboot?

i would probably say lets change the rule and stop worrying about continuty whatever fits fits.

I really doubt they're going to reboot. First Class just came out and it could have been a reboot but they made a prequel instead. It clearly was an attempt at a new trilogy but that seems like it won't happen because of the domestic box office performance.

When calculated, it's not making as much as X-Men 1 (so far). X1's budget was 75 million compared to First Class' 160 million, that is more than double and FC is making almost as much as X1 did domestically, this is a huge concern.

Critically First Class was a success and if FOX has enough faith for a sequel then that's good, but keep in mind that a treatment for X4 and X5 was sent to FOX and apparently they loved it, and this was before First Class came out. They've been planning to make X4 and X5. Bryan Singer is interested in directing X-Men movies again, so I think it's likely that X4 and X5 will happen before a sequel to First Class sees the light of day.

Any X-Men movie released that is comparable in quliaty to X1, X2 or First Class, I'll be happy.

It would be a dream come true if Bryan Singer returned for X4. That story can't end with TLS.

And X-Men 4 doesn't need to cost that much. Its like the start of the trilogy, it can't be that expensive like X3.

Yeah I think X4 could be great if they hire a good writing team/director. And X4 has been in discussion since X3 but they always put it aside because of the prequels.

Me too. First Class was really good, but I miss the original cast. And if they some of the cast to appear again (like McAvoy, Fassbender, January, Jennifer, Caleb, Hoult and Lucas), they can just add them in X4. Like make them travel into the future and meet the current X-Team Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Iceman, etc. That would be so cool.

I agree with sivermoth.. Furthermore I LOVED X-men first class!!! :hrt:I think it completely outdid the others by far, considering the fact that the actors were far less famous. X-men, x2 were good. x3... not so much. Wolverine was good. Dont get me wrong, Wolverine is great, and Hugh Jackman is a great actor, but it was refreshing to see an x-men movie where wolverine isn't the main focus. I'd love to see first class 2, in the others they got a lot of things wrong, First class was much better. I say keep up with the good work!!:woot:

I want both, as separate entities/series with maybe the occasional reference to each other or something. First Class was a great starting point for something new and can be continued, while there is still much that can be done with/to continue the Original franchise.

I dunno. Prequels seem the best route to take at this point. X-Men: The Last Stand dead ended so much, and eliminated so much of the essence of X-Men by killing Cyclops, Xavier, and Jean (the latter of the 3 not being a bad creative decision) as well as depowering Rogue. I get that the cure doesn't seem permanent or whatever, but I think that's a really bad plot point to build a sequel around (making the last movie pointless), and I have my own theories as to why Magneto is still powered.

A future X-Men 4 could have a solid enough roster of characters - Storm, Wolverine, Iceman, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, as well as -possibilities- (albeit not necessarily likely) of returning Angel or Nightcrawler - but the portrayals of some characters (i.e.: Iceman) or the actors of characters (i.e.: Iceman, Colossus) might not be strong enough to build a movie around.

Does Shawn Ashmore have the acting chops to toughen Iceman up a bit, and bring him more in line with his comic book self? Does Daniel Cudmore have the acting chops to portray an actual character, period? These are 2 of my favorite characters from the comics (Colossus more so than Iceman), but the movies didn't do them justice, mischaracterizing one of them (Iceman) and making the other one nothing more than background (Colossus).

If the characters were written well enough, and the acting was strong enough, an X-Men team consisting of Storm, Wolverine, Iceman, Kitty Pryde, and Colossus would be awesome. I don't know what storyline the films would touch on, though.

X4 can easily have a great roster for the team, between Wolvie, Storm, Prof X, Kitty, Iceman, Rogue, Beast, Angel and Collosus (Recast I hope) you have have a lot of options left from the surviving X-Men.

Also If the decide to go the Mr Sinisiter route they can connect him to Cyke and Jean like in the comics. And since Cyclops death wasn't shown they can bring him back by saying that Sinister saved him by using his genetics experiments. In regards to Jean, go the Madelyn Pryor and route and have Sinister clone her so he can create the perfect mutant (Cable). Then have Gambit stage a rescue and reunite the gang so they can have an epic group battle with Sinister and his marauders.

In the end show setup X5 by showing a glimpse of Apocalypse as the mastermind behind it all maybe even mention the horseman or Angel turning into one.

If Singer was back, you should expect Xavier and Magneto to return. Those are probably the most important characters as far as Singer is concerned. He might even have Cyclops back as well, as he seemed to get along well with Marsden. Singer himself commented on Cykes being sidelined in X2, it appears as though he wanted to remedy that in the future.

They should only bring back Cyclops for good.

If they bring back Professor X for X4, I hope its his last appearance.

Well guys XM:FC was in a way a soft reboot of the franchise. Singer and to an extent Fox have stated the XM3 in it self is no longer considered apart of this continuity (hard to buy that...but I understand. Wouldn't you try to distance yourself from that too). Also Vaughn has stated that if a sequel were greenlit which it will, he would love to introduce Cyclops and Storm. As far as Wolverine Origins go, that is not in the continuity either (right Fox) which is why the next movie will drop the Origins tagline and go with The Wolverine.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information. Singer actually said First Class was a prequel in the same continuity but with slight liberties taken for the sake of story.

Also, Vaughn said he wanted to introduce one new character but would not say who.

The Wolverine is a standalone but not a reboot. After this film, it's anyone's guess what will happen next.

Ditto with Cherry, haven't heard (or really been looking), but I've only heard the prequel with liberties thing too....if I'm wrong someone please correct me (w/links please :cwink:)...

...as far as a sequel to FC, I wouldn't mind getting one or not getting one...same with an X4...there's still much that could/can be done with both timelines, but again it won't kill me if we don't get anything, FC did its job IMO

I'm glad we are not getting a prequel as a continuation to First Class. I think the future X-Men visiting the past will rewrite history so this film is not just showing events that already happened in the past, but also changing the past.

DOFP is part sequel to FC set 10 years later, the dark knight rises was set 10 years after the dark knight and it was still a sequel

Just leave it alone for crying out loud

I still stand by my disappointment that First Class wasn't a full-on reboot, because it is the only X-Men movie that felt like a comic book movie should and also made sense narratively.

Still its not a prequel. So I'm happy about that. You don't need to argue with me, everytime I post something related to First Class.

Dark Knight rises was set 8 years later.and first class part of DOFP Is et 11 years later.

Bryan Singer has called DOFP It's own thing but still It Is part prequel/part sequel/and part reconn(of of Origins and last Stand due to time travel)
