Fraction and Larocca on "Invincible Iron Man"

Another Restart? geez. The Knaufs were doing such a good job.

IronMan's been all over the place the last few couple years, does he really need another book? I guess one book will focus on his S.H.I.E.L.D. adventures and this new one will be more of a solo thing?

It's not a restart, the Knauf's are apparently continuing with Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. This is just a second Iron Man ongoing.

Speaking of which, I'm kind of debating on whether or not I should get this. Fraction/Larocca is a pretty damn good team, but does Iron Man really need a second ongoing?

I'm guessing that the Knaufs iron Man will focus on the espionage angle, and Fraction's will be more super heroics. Depending on what you like, you may getting the best of both worlds.

Eh, I'm passing on this. Larroca's art annoys me and, while Fraction's a great writer, the cookie-cutter-superheroics direction isn't nearly as interesting as the Knaufs' take. Plus, this is clearly a blatant movie tie-in without technically calling it a movie tie-in.

Yes, like the inclusion of Obadiah Stane's son, who I didn't know even existed.

I'll be interested to see how the market takes this; they're obviously counting on the movie for a boost in interest. If it's really popular, will the other title suffer?

I'm game for it; the art looks terrific for an Iron Man book, and there's a glimpse of Pepper in her The Order job, so maybe will be carrying some of the stuff he did in that book over to this one (Henry was set up as Tony's longtime friend, so he'd be an obvious potential recurring character).

What I'm worried about is this book taking off and possibly causing Iron Man: Director of SHIELD to get canned for low sales.

That would suck. I'd give it a try if that happened, since this would probably at least be better than no Iron Man.

This will not sell.

It'll probably be canceled but eh, what the hell, I'll pick it up.

Yeah it's being made simply because of Iron Man's new movie...but it's Fraction. I don't think I can resist :csad:

I'm wondering which is going to be considered the main Iron Man book now?

I have a feeling that Marvel will end up canning Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a result of this. :csad:

I don't know, Iron man isn't selling like hot cakes right now, and Fraction isn't necessarily bringing in the big crowds. Why not just give the current book a bigger boost with a rotating creative team?

Personally I think Brubaker/McNiven would give Iron Man a rather big boost in sales.

Well yeah, they're big names. But the quality the Knaufs have brought to the title is essential. I think Marvel realized this and why they decided to have a second Iron Man ongoing because of the different direction that book is going to take.

I was half-expecting Millar and McNiven's secret project to be a run on Iron Man.

Don't get me wrong, the Knaufs have been doing a great job on the title.

But I really, really like Brubaker's portrayal of Iron Man in Captain America and I think he would do a great job continuing what the Knaufs have done. Plus Bru is my favorite Marvel writer.

But if the Knaufs are doing sucha good job why not, I don't know, have the Knaufs continue what the Knaufs have done.:o
