I gave it an 8 since I've seen all the Nightmare and Friday the 13th films.

People complaining about bad dialogue and characters seem to be clueless. None, and I mean none of the originals had good dialogue and characters. This movie was done like the others, a typical slasher flick(they're pretty much always the same).

When you take that into consideration and rate it based on past slasher flicks I say this film was pretty damn good and mainly because it gave us Freddy fighting Jason of course.

Thank you, I was about to post the exact same thing.
Why people think that the prior films in these franchises had good acting/dialogue is beyond me. Both are very few and far between in any of these movies.

He was still lying at the bottom of the lake. All the sequence we're he goes out the water with Freddy's head was a dream.

oh I see. they should have explained that more thoroughly in the movie though.

The Pinhead one got close to getting made i think but they couldnt get the rights to the character.

Pinhead would've worked so well. Both Freddy and Jason have escaped from hell. So who better to try and get them back?

I gave it a 5 I grew up with both franchises and will always be a big fan of them. Hell I saw Jason X opening weekend and in retrospect as far as Friday movies go Jason X >>>>>> Freddy Vs. Jason. It's a decent elm street flick but completely sucks as a Friday movie way too one sided Jason is ass throughout most of it.

Freddy vs. Jason vs Ash NEEDS to happen.

There's bad acting and dialogue that can still be funny and entertaining and then there's bad acting and dialogue where you wish the characters would just **** and die. FvJ has the latter. There wasn't ONE single character not named Jason or Freddy that entertained me in this movie and the problem is these characters had a lot of screentime. The final battle between the two icons isn't enough to salvage sitting through that garbage.

Well theres the comics. It was pretty good. Alot better than this movie. Sadly we won't get a movie now that New Line failed big time, and that there remaking all three francises.

Everything I put in bold basically describes all the past Friday and Nightmare films.

I'm sorry but if you think the lame typical teen characters of the past films were entertaining...you need to up your standards. In all of these films including the Halloween films as well, the characters were mainly there to just show **** and die. That was the thing about these slasher flicks, you were supposed to root for the badguys.

I love this movie. Hell, I'm watching it right now, cause it's Halloween.:woot:

For what this movie was, I give it a 10. Why? Because we knew it was going to be a brainless horror movie, but featured 2 of our favorite horror icons duking it out. That's why.

The end fight was just brutal. No cuts, no crazy angles. Just a dolly and let them go at each other. Pure bloody fun.

I'm glad they went with this script instead of any of the drafts featuring the "Fred Heads". That just seemed stupid. I don't want a cult controlling him. I want Freddy doing his own thing because he wants to.

the movie was good dumb fun....I consider it an action buddy comedy.....I did enjoy the pharmaceutical sub plot and the big fight was great....I remember reading earlier drafts of the older scripts....my favorite was that there were a cult of Freddy Kruger worshipers and a human sacrifice on the shores of Crystal Lake or something like that....

Ah, yes. The Fredheads.

According to Crystal Lake Memories, the Fredheads almost made it to the final shooting script. And I know personally I would have loved to have seen them. I dont wonder about much from the numerous failed drafts that were written thru the years FvsJ was in developmental hell, but the Fredheads will always be an exception.

How many drafts didn't include the Fredheads. Seems like the writers just needed that in the movie for some reason. I'm glad it didn't make it in, but aside from some of the drafts, I'd be curious to see how it was handled had Damien Swift and Mike Shannon had put it in. The idea sounds pretty meh-ish, but that doesn't mean it would've been complete crap.

This trend is starting to bother me....some fan with a sense of entitlement rattles off (Such and such) NEEDS to happen....no it doesn't....you just want it to happen....

Here's the question....how would Freddy garner a cult following?...most anyone that has ever heard of him has ended up dead....

I always took the Fredheads as an aspect that alot of people apparently liked at New Line, and thus they became inserted in whatever draft from there on out. I have no idea how many drafts the Fredheads were not apart of (too many to go thru), but I can certainly understand why there was an affinity for them.

But of course, instead of a cult resurrecting Freddy, we got the explanation that Freddy was "forgotten". Resulting in Freddy using Jason as a pawn to make people remember. Which was soooo much better. :whatever:

freddy vs jason was a good movie. sure not the best ever horror movie, but decent enough and it evoked some of the 80s charm of the first few nightmare sequels.

ill take any freddy or jason movie over a Saw movie.
im sick to death of these boring Saw movies every year.

if they really are going to reboot freddy.
then give us the same bad ass nasty son of a ***** in the original 1984 movie.

if they can replicate that, they will easily clean up at the box office.

no comedy or coryness, just nasty freddy.
and they need to put that creepy music from parts 1 and 2 back in.

Nightmare 2 always freaked me out the most....I first saw it at 10 years old and didn't sleep for 3 days...

I rated it 1 out of 10. Horrible.

On the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash thing, please no, those characters really have no business being in the same movie at all. I love all 3 characters/franchises and Ash really has no place in that world.
I did however read a script idea (here possibly) that was about Jason vs Micheal Myers. It made more sense and could be far more believable than any "vs" movie, with Jason in it, that I had ever read about.
Followed the idea that after Halloween H20, Michael was still alive.
John goes on a camping trip with friends (crystal lake)
Jason does his thing, but Michael shows up when he's about to take out John.
It actually gave reason for the 2 baddies to fight. Jason just wants to do what Jason does, but for Michael, killing John is HIS job.

Trend? You're right, I do want to see a film like that. But come on. How awesome would it be to see Ash face off against those guys? And I do know about the comic. When I first heard about it, I thought it was strange but now, it could be really cool.

Oh yeah. I don't rattle off. I always state what I need.

it would just be weird because the two baddies wouldn't ever talk, only the side characters like john and camp counselors etc. one baddie not talking is fine like the F13 series, but nowadays it's mandatory to have a main character who talks, which is why freddy worked in freddy vs jason.
