Fright Night remake

Racking my brains trying to reconcile why David's only in the trailer for about .1 of a second?

Just got Fright Night from Netflix. I've been hearing about this thing since I was 10 years old but know next to nothing about it except the basic premise. Should be interesting. :)

You're going to love it. Especialliy you love Horror comedies.

yeah its a pretty cool movie. very 80's, but that's always been a good thing in my book.

At first I was against it, now I'm just waiting to see what happens. I found that I am almost always wrong when passing judgement before all the facts are in.

I watched Fright Night 2 today because my friend has the original. I appreciated both films.

Personally, think the only good thing about Fright Night 2 is that John Gries played another Werewolf; apart from that I can pretty much take it or leave it.

I liked Fright Night 2. Not nearly as much as the first, but it's still good, IMO.

Hmm, maybe it's one I need to revisit and see if my viewpoint changes. It's certainly one of those movies where I remember the trailer more than the actual film itself.

*just watched the trailer again*

Cool trailer - instantly memorable.

^^ The film felt a bit...more sexual than the first one, in terms of the romance, lol.

I thought FN2 was ok. Julie Carmen was sexy. My main problem was that the way she played the character it seemed like she wanted everyone to guess that she was a vampire. Not much subtley. Chris Sarandon in the first film didn't play Jerry Dandrige that way. He just came off as a sexy, single guy. He wasn't advertising that he was a vampire. Julie Carmen was. I mean just look at the clothes she wears in the film. Now look at how Sarandon dressed in FN1. Carmen wears dark colored, tight seductive dresses and sometimes a weird hat to make her seem eccentric, exotic & maybe European. Sarandon just wore sweaters & jeans for the most part. He seemed like he was trying to blend in and not be noticed(at least, not in any suspicious way).

John Gries only played the guy who turns into a Wolfman in the Monster Squad aside from a few special/make-up effects that he wore as he was transforming he didn't actually get to wear the whole Wolfman costume it was instead wore by stunt performer Carl Thibault.

I always thought that Traci Lind was the hottest girl ever when I saw her in Fright Night part 2 & the wolfman guy felt the same way.

I wish Fright Night 2 would be re-released on DVD. it's not amazing, but it's good.

more like rear window with vampires.

Except no, the poster who said this looks like Disturbia was correct the first time. This looks nothing like Rear Window, inwhich that took place in a city apartment. Disturbia (which takes its name from Suburbia) is a much closer and on the nail comparison. This film takes place in the suburbs, does it not? You couldn't possibly compare the tone and atmosphere to Fright Night 2011 and the original Rear Window successfully. At all.

Indeed, kids today. Only as bright as the generation before them has allowed :whatever:

Except that Disturbia's basic premise is taken directly from Rear Window - Person spying on neighbor witnesses neighbor murder someone. Whether they live in an apartment or a suburban house is window dressing.

Obligatory eyeroll smiley since you seem to like it so well - :whatever:

Except that "meaningless window dressing" is one of the things that sets the 2 films apart, and Fright Night 2011 does, unmistakenly, have a closer feel in tone and dark comedy of that of Disturbia, not Rear Window. Besides the basic premise, I wouldn't say Disturbia has the same tone and overall feel as Rear Window. Would you?

I guess the original Fright Night was also ripping off Disturbia then, eh? Boy in suburbs witnesses next door neighbor commiting a murder. Quite a feat, considering Disturbia wouldn't be made for another 22 years.

Besides, you don't know what tone and feel Fright Night '11 has, because you haven't seen it. You have only the trailer to go by.

Spittling hairs a bit there, dont you think? :oldrazz:

I didnt literally mean that Gries was physically in the make-up, just that he was a playing a character who was a werewolf, in both movies.
