That scene where Peter calls Walter dad and leaves him the red vines...

*sniff*

Like you dont cry when you get an erection. :whatever:

Brilliant ending.

I'm a little bit confused right now - only about the non-existence of Peter - but confident they'll find a way to explain that and tie it into the storyline. He has to come back somehow.

The moment he disappeared, I thought it was weird how none of the other characters seemed to react to it or say anything - they simply went on talking/arguing, as if they hadn't seen him. And as it turns out, they didn't.

that hairstyle was s****y

The Observers see everything.....I gathered that things like time and dimension rips don't affect them

I would guess that the Observers can exist out of time that way they are not affected by the infinite timeline events.

My questions:
1. I'm wondering HOW Peter was erased from existence. Was it the machine or the universe correcting itself from Peter going to the future and coming back.

2. Did the Observers set a plan into motion to wipe Peter out, if so for what purpose? Can they still be Observers if they are manipulating events?

3. What is the point of erasing Peter from existence? The two universes still go to war without him so what is the true purpose?

4. Why did Walter send the pieces of the machine back in time? I think this was addressed in the show but I can't recall. Walter says Astrid and the younger Dunham went back in time to hide the pieces.

What a great episode!

4 - Because that's how he got them in the past... his future self had sent them back as he knew that he had to to keep the timeline going and prevent a paradox... I guess

It was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Walter found the pieces of the machine in the past because his future self had sent the pieces he had found back into the past.

Which creates an ontological paradox where as far as we can tell, the machine only exists because it existed, and was never actually created. (A time traveler gives his past self the plans for the time machine, which he uses to build the time machine and go back an give his past self the plans. Where did the plans come from? Or Fry becoming his own grandfather in Futurama.)

WAIT WAIT. WTF just happened?
Peter
never exisited....?

Astrid looked so hot with that hairstyle...keep it

*Comes late to the party* Wow. So how about that season 1 finale?

Peter vanishing certainly has something to do with the fact that both peters were supposed to die, in both universes, and when Walter interfered, and when peter almost died again, the watchers interfered. It's gotta be tied up with that.

Walter said in the episode that time travel has consequences. That will probably lead to Peter returning is someway I think.

cool finale. Very interesting approach.

That was September, and I am pretty sure that in one of episodes, he was specifically told that he shouldn't have interfered. Also, I am fairly sure that it was also outlined that they are doing a course-correction to fix September's "mistake."

Although, I'm not sure about the part where Peter was supposed to die in both universes part, since it was also September's fault that Walternate got distracted and missed the cure for Peter's ailment, and Walter had to step in to finish the treatment himself.

Did it hook you? What are your thoughts of the season as a whole?

The season started off slow but got great during the last few episodes. I hope they show more of the alternate universe. I know at the end Olivia got to meet Bell in the World Trade Center. That was cool. So I guess there was no 9/11 in the alternate world. The one thing I'm wondering is what's up with Peter. Walter visited his grave at the end so I'm assuming the Peter in our world is maybe from the alternate world? Is that why he doesn't remember when he was sick when he was a kid? Using Leonard Nimoy was a nice touch. I'm assuming he did this episode around the same time Star Trek came out? That's some nice cross promotion! :oldrazz:

You get all those answers in Season 2, which I prefer over Season 1. It gets very mythology heavy. Yeah and having Nimoy was really cool.

Is there still that FOTW element in season 2? I was getting bored with that. I enjoy the mythology aspect much more.

I think all episodes one way or another has had some sort of mythology related thing in them

It has a little bit of the FOTW element, but most of it ties in to the mythology. You'll see. Episode 1 of season 2 is really awesome by the way.

So I finished watching episode 2 of season 2. I wonder what Olivia and Bell talked about when she was in the alternate universe. I'm sure she'll get her memory back soon but that twist with Francis was pretty awesome. Sorry to see the real Francis go, though. I liked that character a lot.

Oh and the whole Peter/Olivia sexual tension is reminiscent of Mulder/Scully.

Nobody tell Mike anything about anything.

Fringe reveals are best when you don't know they're coming. :D
