The Springfield Files I like because it's kind of a Halloween episode, but not.

Poor Milhouse. The writers have so much fun ****ing around with him.

They sometimes let him have his moments.

But mostly they don't.

Marge: "You agreed to spend one weekend a month with the kids"
Bart: "That's only half the work of a divorced Dad."
Homer: "But it's twice the work of a deadbeat dad."

:lmao:

Well, it was nice while it lasted. We're in mediocre-ville now with this marathon.

It's nearing the end of season 14 now.

Yeah, season 12 was the last great season, now it's teetering downhill.

I wouldn't say great. Watchable, and definitely had it's moments though, but it was definitely on the decline. That being said, there were some great episodes scattered throughout that season.

Edit: Never mind, I was thinking of season 11. Mod's death is pretty much the big jump the shark moment and the show went downhill from that moment. Every episode before that from season 11 were okay to great. It had been declining consistently from season 9 on though, but it was still better than most sitcoms.

Man, I have to agree that once Maude dies, the show slowly starts downhill. Crazy you can actually start seeing it with the marathon. Honestly, I forget which season, 12 or 13, but the roast of Homer clip show episode I feel is really the defining moment. The end song even talks about not running out of ideas for years and that was made around 12 years ago.

Poor Flanders, he's lost two wives now.

I thought there were plenty of funny episodes in season 12. The Old/New Springfield episode, the Mr. X episode, the Snow Day School Mutiny episode, the Homer crayon episode, the Tennis episode, the NSYNC/Boy Bands episode, the hunger strike episode, and Ned's amusement park.

Am I the only one that wants to see the rating for this thing? Like I want to see if there was a pretty steady amount up through season 13, and then see if it slowly declines from there.

Season 9 apparently had a lot of holdovers from Season 8, which probably explains why it had some surprisingly good episodes.

Unfortunately people with good taste are a minority.

There's a reason this show is still on the air.

You also have to understand that for some people the later seasons were the introduction to the series. I wasn't allowed to watch the Simpsons until it was on season 14 so those years I have fond memories of watching. Now they are vastly inferior to the earlier seasons but I still like them because they were my first.

Honestly, if I started at Season 14, I don't know if I would have been a fan of the show.

All I can say is thank God for reruns. Though I believe they don't even show the first eight seasons any more since they're not HD.

My first season was 7.

Well yeah I also watched the reruns at the same time and later got the dvds. But the earlier ones are played sometimes, not as often but they definitely don't run them because they're not HD. Because they'd be eliminating four fifths of the series.

I remember the day the Christian amusement park episode aired I made a comment to a friend that it was the funniest episode I'd seen in a while so I'll agree with you on that one. The NSync episode was pretty good too. The rest have their moments but it doesn't even come close to the better episodes from season 10 and 11. After that season the only episodes I can remember really sticking out is the episode where Moe starts babysitting Maggie and the episode where Bart moons the flag and they are forced to go to France.

Oh, and apparently I'm in the minority as far as old school Simpsons fans go but I thought the movie was easily the best thing since season 10, maybe even earlier.
