FXX's Simpsons World

Oh, and apparently I'm in the minority as far as old school Simpsons fans go but I thought the movie was easily the best thing since season 10, maybe even earlier.

The movie was great so funny. I don't agree with people that the Simpsons should have ended after season 13. I think the show was at its best form like season 3-13. After that so season 14 I think the show started to get worse but only a little bit. Been watching some of this marethorn and even season like 16, 18 or so had a lot of funny episodes. I don't think the show starting really go down hill in till like season 20. Even right now watching it at the end of season 17 and the show is still quit funny. I don't think the show really got to being unfunny in till like season 22 or so.

the Simpsons movie is hilarious

it actually kinda got me into the Simpsons again but that didn't last very long

watching the marathon further proves my point that the first 10 seasons were very solid and definitely the best ones. seasons 11-13 are very hit or miss with some memorable episodes. but 14 and beyond it just started going downhill and in a bad way. still not as bad as Family Guy though.

^ Family Guy is still consistently funny going into it's 15th year.

No, it's not.

Family Guy used to be witty, but it relies way more on toilet and shock humor than it used to.

Yeah, I used to love Family Guy when I was in middle school and high school, but at a certain point a few years back I lost interest and never cared to look back. The formula just wore thin on me. As far as I'm concerned, the only good animated comedy on FOX right now is Bob's Burgers.

Family Guy was funny before it got cancelled.

Then it came back less funny but already had a loyal fanbase.

Yeah it's not. Family Guy like the Simpsons suffered a steady decline in quality following the second season.

South Park really is the only exception. I am actually amazed by it.

My guess is it's because the original creators are so involved in every single process of the show.

While South Park hasn't had as steep a decline as The Simpsons or Family, South Park has definitely declined.

I'd say it's more plateaued, personally.

It's consistent since Season 10.

I been watching the simpsons on and off during the years, but the marathon has been interested in watching the new season. The movie was pretty good but could have been better story wise and could have had better cameos from past celebrity guest stars or just characters from the past. I am interested to see the Simpsons/ Family Guy cross over episode and the Simpsons season 26 premiere just to see which character they kill off. I am gonna be sad if its Krusty or Side Show Bob as they are two of my all time favorites but by going from the title its highly likely its gonna be one of them.

I remember the day the Christian amusement park episode aired I made a comment to a friend that it was the funniest episode I'd seen in a while so I'll agree with you on that one. The NSync episode was pretty good too. The rest have their moments but it doesn't even come close to the better episodes from season 10 and 11. After that season the only episodes I can remember really sticking out is the episode where Moe starts babysitting Maggie and the episode where Bart moons the flag and they are forced to go to France.

Fair enough. I think the Simpsons went further downhill after Mike Scully (seasons 9-12) stopped being showrunner. I know some people hate him, and I do admit the show was different when he became showrunner, but I still found it funny and have some good ones.

I don't think you're in the minority for that.

One thing I've noticed with the marathon is that more often than not, the couch gags are the best parts of the newer episodes.

From what I understand, part of the reason the movie was good is because a lot of the old staff returned for it, including John Swatzwelder.

When the time comes for the Simpsons to end, they should end the series with an epic sequel movie.

I don't think another movie will be enough. I believe there should be a final season with old writers coming back for one episode each then all reunite for the final episode/movie. Almost like a farewell tour.

I look forward to the Futurama crossover.

I wonder how much Matt Groening had to pay Matt Groening for the crossover.

One of the episodes airing on FXX just had a visual gag referring to Joe Millionaire.

Remember when that was a thing?

Oh god, Joe Millionaire. :funny:

That was an interesting time at Fox. So many cancelled show during that time.

25th anniversary of the Simpsons today, y'all.
