hmm i wish i could find the full thing for you. The interviews between songs are pretty special.. and hell, even my grandparents found a new appreciation for her when they watched it.

and i look forward to what you pick!

No you don't. :funny:

One of my favorite songs but one I can't listen to very much, especially not at 11:11 pm.

EDIT: Jesus Christ what have I done...this thread is starting with a Scott Walker song...

Just saw your last post. What did I think of it.

I don't hate it by any means, it's simply not my thing. It's a typical: "this is what this song is about" kind of show, MTV used to have unplugged for those sorts of things, its really good for the fans of the artist because they really get to have a more intimate time with their artist. So from a musician/fan standpoint, it's always cool.

however me listening to it for lady Gaga doesn't do much for me. She wrote the songs about things, that's cool. That's what writers do, I'm just not...drawn to it like that. I don't think that's a flaw in her though, I'm drawn to a more poetic, narrative type of writing.

I just find the music very....easy. Thats not the best word for it for sure but It's late for me and I just listen to Jesse again and I'm freaked out. It's all right there, isn't it? It's on a platter for you lyrics, music all of it. I just think it's all so safe. One thing that probably ties to all my musical taste is an edge, not some badass edge but the inherent Idea that this might all be the narrators fault and things like that. There's always some other way to take it.

That's why Born this way means nothing to me as a music fan or as a Gay person. I'm just not interested in hearing how Lady gaga thinks it's ok for me to be gay. She's sticking up for me...blah blah. For some reason it doesn't get to me.

Its never easy for me to explain music, to me. It's a big thing for me and when I hear it, I hear it and when I don't...meh. Of course it's all subjective at the end of the day.

But what begins to irk me is: "I'm an artist" I get bothered at this assertion. I feels like an excuse when said aloud.

lol. Ok... well I did listen to it. haha. (the whole thing believe it or not) and yeah... I think he's the perfect marriage of "hipster and emo" I can see why you don't listen to it often.. haha, sorta felt like a psychedelic drug trip on anti-depressants (that didn't work). it's not my taste, but the artist in me appreciated it (alot actually) I think it would work really well in setting a mood for a scene in a film... I could see it being used alot for film actually. So thank you for sharing that!

the song actually felt like the film equivalent of the Roman Polanski film "Repulsion" which is a great film.. but incredibly out there and more of an experimental mood film ..

I used to think Lady Gaga was okay. She can sing, plays instruments, and whatever else she does -- the girl does have talent. However, by this point I just think she is full of herself and only comes off as a pretentious little *****. Meat dress? That egg thing in the Grammy's? I also read in an interview that those horns she was sporting for a bit weren't prosthetics but they would come out whenever she was feeling creative. Um, no.

I get her songs have a message and whatnot but they're so annoying just for the sake of being annoying, I smack myself whenever I hear them. We've had enough of all these bombastic and flashy singers who don't do anything but look so ****ing weird whenever they're around.

Edit: Pardon my language, as you can see I've developed a hatred towards this chick. Feels good to get it out haha.

You've hit me at the core now.

How could you say that? :csad:

EDIT: since we talked about the meanings of Gaga's songs I think it's fun to mention, Jessie is indeed about Elvis' twin brother (whom he smothered in the womb and was born still born) the song is pretty much a fictional account of Elvis' feelings on the situation (it's documented he was traumatized over this) the guitar notes in the song are the first notes of "Jailhouse Rock" (an Elvis song)

All together its a creative dream, or nightmare.

I think what hour trying to say and go for, is that you like your music more "abstract". You don't like to be told what the song is invoking, you want to interpret it yourself. Sort of like comparing Shakespeare to a haiku. The lyrics arnt as important to you as much as the mood and symbolic picture your musician paints?

Lol.... I'm sorry I just don't know how else to describe it. It's neither hipster or emo, but it definitely fits somewhere in between....

I see, now I find the song more interesting!. And ironically I was going to say it was very "Elvis" like

The lyrics tell a definite story but in any song they should be open to personal interpretation.

Scott is classically undefined. Which I think serves him best.

The Drift was once reviewed this way:

"Your first listen will either be cherished like a birth of a child, or burned into your mind like a murder" I think that says most of it. "Jesse" is the most accessible of the songs on the album.

This all being said, this musical taste of mine segments me off from a lot of people my age. A LOT. Couple that with my other eccentricities and...well...I'm doomed.

Cept my Straight friend, who gets some of it but has some great ideas of his own. He's into Radiohead (A band I've never got into fully) A band who have admitted to being heavily influenced by Walker

Which we both found out one day browsing the internet surfing each others taste :funny:

id actually say your music is age appropriate, but it's more of an underground scene. Many fans i'm sure might actually appear to be hipsters even. But I bet there's definitely a 25-35 age group out there. id try going to related music concerts and such, hell maybe there's an Indy record store out there where you can hangout and chat with people?

Scott doesn't tour, that would be wonderful. "Related" music isn't Scott either. I might like some of it but I truly have a thing for Scott.

And in all my travels, I've never met anyone else independently interested in Scott Walker.

NYC is odd so much stuff here yet so much not here either.

I just think Scott is a secret essentially. The Day I meet someone who has heard of him and likes him will be an interesting one.

but I'm not... deluded enough to think I'll meet a guy I could date based off of it.

Again the only one who has come close is my straight friend. And he's Spanish, skinny, cute and wears glasses?

WHY GOD?!

:funny:

If you lived in LA I could actually give you a list of places you might find friends with common interests.... id say live in North Hollywood, downtown, or Silverlake. And frequent at Amoeba records, Akbar (the gay bar of Silverlake that's pretty Indie and Zachary Quinto hung out at alot), and check out concerts at the whiskey ago go

Anywho bud.. It was nice chatting but I need to passout. I'll chat soon

I've been to all those places. The only one I like is Amoeba.

The rest is just what you said "indie" which is not really what I'm interested in.

I like L.A. but I felt a lot of it was... uh... I don't know. I like NYC better ultimately.

I love a miss amoeba....

But the music could also just be your own hobbie. And you could have other interests in common with others?

Lol I kinda sucked Marx into my action figure obsession.... He doesn't know much about the line of figs, but he goes looking around for them for me on his own. He's too cute!

Also.... I think most Indie fans wouldn't call themselves Indie either... Haha

haha.

My other interest are personal. They're things I do on my own. Writing, Philosophy...

Things I feel if you search them out, you'll never find them, you know?

If I went to a writing workshop it'd be fun for writing but I never find someone there I like...its too forced.

Whenever I was impressed by someone It was a random event.

I think you gotta find a happy medium. You've said so yourself that your past patterns haven't worked... So maybe shake it up a little bit?

You at least know that you won't find anyone sitting at home. So I guess it's worth a shot?

Well like any lazy person, I just want a man to fall into my lap.

Honestly, part of me thinks it's just easier being alone. Eventually things will pick up and I'll just go out on my own.

I don't want to change those personal things too much (I can write with other people, It just has to happen naturally) because it always results in my turning away from it, then feelings get hurt and blah blah blah.

I'm not designed to be with another person, at least not easily. Why else would I look this way. If the all amazing being wanted me to be with someone he would have made me gorgeous.

Instead I like Scott Walker and...

Well, I'm ranting but it's WAY past my bedtime

Appropriate.

The people who have truly experienced life won't be able to tell you what it's about or how to do it. You've got to find your way. Help is good along the way, but don't get caught up in what or who you "should" be. Like what you want; do what you think is right. Those who love you will either support your every move, or be concerned enough to intervene. That's what life's about; the people you love. And they're the only ones, aside from yourself, that can get you where you want to be, even if you don't know where that is! You are you, and you is awesome, Lady Gaga or not. :cwink:

I like how this thread turned into a Spideyboy psychiatry session because Rag doesn't like Gaga.
