If they would make a decent F4 movie, Galactus would look like that. But, instead, they work very hard in the "concept" of Gahhh Lacks Tools as a wandering cloud.

Yeah, and the novel already tells us one thing we'll be disappointed about regarding Galactus no matter how he looks - the way he's defeated.

I mean, obviously he can't be that sentient or that bright if he gets confused when Silver Surfer flies away and automatically follows him. "Oh, whoops! I guess since my herald is leaving, I'm not allowed to eat here. Better follow." WTF?

They made him into a FORCE OF NATURE, nothing more, nothing less. Then again, the cloud might turn into a giant Galactus head for a few moments before it leaves.

Then how could Radd reason with it to spare his planet, and become his herald?

It's like trying to convince a hurricane to spare your home, and have it agree to follow you to a more suitable location for it to make landfall.

oh noes, i leave boards and come back to see THE Albafan a mod....the world is certainly going to end

Anyone spot this in the trailer?

Might well just be the Surfer, but as this comes right after a shot of what looks like a Hubble telescope type thing I'm not sure if something as small as a man would show up on that...so...might this be our first glimpse of Galactus?

You come here and use.....logic? Who are you strange traveller....and from wence do yee hale?

Y'know, I keep looking back, and once again, I think Wobbly wins. He's got a great pic of a Borg Galactus on his website, that I think would work great, if instead of gray, he trimmed the suit in purple.

I just can't believe that FOX wouldn't fork over a couple of million to do a Galactus scene at the end of the film? How much could it really cost to cgi a dark figure where you see the shape og 616 Galactus. I don't mind SS leading the cloud away, or it should be the drone ships and they arrive back at the World Ship and we see a shot of Galactus. I'm hoping that FOX is going to do something and we get a glimpse of the big G. Weta pulled off the SS very good, I'm sure they could cgi his world ship and him as well.

Nah thats the surfer... you can see the board shape and a couple of little arms sticking out.

I assume the telescope you speak of is a spy satelite (sp?)

isnt that shot just before the general says " we saw this" (or something to that affect) ... FF say " what is it" genearal replies "hoping you could tell us" and then cut to Surfer sequence.

I like those images of Galactus from the italian artist.

very impressive!

Money does not appear to be the issue. The issue seems to be that the producers have serious concerns as to how ridiculous a giant man with a forked helmet would look.

The vague shape in the centre is probably just the Surfer but I was thinking more of what's behind it....Again, most likely just an effect of his travel or a ripple caused by passing through what might be the rings of Saturn, but food for thought all the same.

On the satellite, I think it is meant to be hubble type space based telescope: it has shutters on the lens facing space, and is presumably what took the pic we see above.

Then by all means they have no business owning the rights to make these movies. Fox are a bunch of a-holes anyway.

How DARE Fox try to manage their budget by not spending it on a giant purple blender!!!!

Producers. Looking for intelligence among them is just like looking for a forked purple helmet in the space. :hyper:

Ridiculous looking. How can this even be an issue? What about The Thing?

He looks like my dog's crap after eating seven bags of Dorito's.

Thats easily the Surfer but I do hope there something in the trailer that points out galactus. Something that hasn't been noticed yet.

I'm putting this in the spoilers section rather than the the sequels section, because this all relates to what happens in the second film, so we can't discuss the third film if we don't know the details of the second film.

If you don't want spoilers, please don't read any more.

I know many people seem to think that Galactus will appear in the second film as a cloud, but this quote from Ralph Winter has convinced me, beyond any reasonable doubt, that the cloud isn't Galactus: http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11598103&postcount=33

If the cloud is, as I assume, simply a tool Galactus uses to suck the energy out of planets (sort of taking the place of the big vacuum cleaner he used in the comics), then that makes the prospect of him coming to Earth in the third film pretty exciting.

Ralph Winter did suggest in the Empire article that Galactus could come to Earth in the third film.

Imagine that.

They could bring the Watcher in, or just use the Surfer, but some way or another, the FF could find out: "Wait a minute . . . you mean the Surfer - the guy who was able to dissasemble and re-assemble people's atoms and could basically destroy any one of us with the blink of an eye - and that cloud that nearly destroyed earth are really nothing more than a spoon for some guy called Galactus? And now that Galacutus' spoon defied him, he's coming here? And he's pissed?!?!":wow: :woot:

That makes a pretty exciting possibility for a third film. My only concern is that they could tell the story of Galactus' punishment of the Surfer in a stand-alone Surfer film, but my hope is they would bring Galacutus in for the third FF film, and then spin off a Surfer movie prequel in which they tell his origin.

Two questions:

1. How cool would that be?

2. How likely is it?

For myself, I'd love it, but to note...

-I think you'd HAVE to mention that each race percieves him differently, as it both increases the awe and may explain some doubts in sceptical audience members' minds.

-I highly doubt it would ever happen.

If I were to do it, I'd build up to the drama, but might have him set down in the countryside rather than New York City. More room to devastate. I would never show him clearly, but as he descended, a fleet of planes could be send up to him, only for us to cut to the FF watching from a distance as a great black forcefield disintegrates them all- in my mind I have that wave of dark energy that demolished Barad-dur whern Sauron's eye exploded in Return of the King.

I'd have the FF arrive and worry, shout etc, before Reed finally says.
"...He's here." Then I'd reveal Galactus by going to an aerial view of the four and PANNING out, further, further, further, up his boot, until they were just mere specks beside his boot, up up up to the tip of his helmet. (I'd make him COLOSSAL).

Attacks would be made but he'd simply raise a fist and they would erupt etc. (The reason I said outside New York is because otherwise he'd literally demolish the city!) Setting it outside New York also means he could begin the destruction of the planet, turning the area wherever he sat down into a seething wasteland consumed in earthquakes and eruptions, but he'd be stopped before it reached anywhere major. Hell, I might even have him NEVER speak to increase the sheer awe felt- and INCREDIBLY dramatic choiral music would be vital!

Just my two cents.

just picturing that in my mind and that is just an awsome scene and absoluetly breathtaking as your sitting there watching this happening and bein like....wow, that same visial feeling that we got if we saw 300, as for the panning out i pictured the Alex Ross take on Galactus in Marvels just this massive figure

but with maybe the apperance of the Galactus from Ultimate Alliance
