he was an extra that ratner thought looked cool apparantly. This is ratner we are talking about- it doesn't mean it was a good move. I think the writers jokingly said that they would just say its avalanche and end the speculation

But I just don't understand why he was put there, then gone in an instant. It stinks of bad direction and continuity if you ask me.

I would guess that Ratner didn't pay much attention to where he put his extras. Avalanche could have been there in one take, then somewhere else in the next because the only ones Ratner cared about were Magneto, Pyro, Callisto, Juggernaut, and Phoenix.

Also, there were a whole lot of cameos in this movie. I'm sure there's a significance in that character. He has to be someone.
