Because instead of it being the stallion, it would wind up being the mare that gets mounted by the world? :D

ROFL, good one. If it is a girl maybe Rickon will mount her. When they are older of course.

a rapey sense of humor?

so....as bad as it looks, Sansa isn't bad...she just has a severe lack of options

I have a feeling that Khal Drogo's baby that everyone is hoping is a boy, will end up being a girl. :csad:

And this is why I wish I could be experiencing this for the first time. One expects certain things that may play out or may take a massive left turn.

I have to say, the Starks at least by appearance seemed to be overmatched. The armies of Stark are led by Robb Stark and his mother Catalyn, whereas the Lannisters are headed by Tywin and Jaime. Even surrounded by war veterans, it looks like the advantage is with the Lannisters.

Cat is not apart of leading the Stark army. It's Rob and Greatjon Umber. Cat has got a great story on her own without being directly tied to the front lines, war is a man's world.

its part of why Cat got quiet right after Rob ordered the Lanister spy be let go....it would undermine Robs authority and she knew that

Which is why I wouldn't be opposed if the showrunners decided to deviate from source material/not follow events from the books. It brings back the excitement and unpredictability of not knowing what comes next.

You forget the Boltons. Seven gods, the Boltons! <runs away in terror>

speaking of which, was that a good idea to let the spy go?

I think he overcounted the men Robb had at his command and was let go because it might make Tywin be more reluctant to attack.

I thought that as well but Tywin army is strong of 30 000 men ( and another 30k with Jamie ). He also looks very confident.

He has a reason to be. He's the best military mind in the land. I think the only one that puts a little bit of "fear" into him is Randle Tarly (that's right Sam's dad) as far a military minds go.

They won't deviate from that paticular story element it's too important. I would mind it to a certain extent. For unpredictablility? Why try to fix something that's not broken? The writers are good but what ever they would come up with couldn't possibly match what Martin's done up to this point and it would end up just p*ssing off a whole group of the book's fans anyways.
I am curious how they are going to present the "delivery" of Rheago.

Yeah, it just gives me the impression of a mismatch in this battle. Since I really like the House of Stark, it does make me worry of what's coming ahead. I guess it is both good and bad that I haven't read the part of the book that ep 9 is pertains to yet.

There are pros and cons to both ways. Following the books guarantees an interesting and complex story/plot but you know all the twists and turns ahead of time and potentially needing to simplify things down due to limitations in budget and time/episodes. Going down a different path creates limitless potential but at the expense of potentially annoying the hardcore fans and/or ending up with a bad/uninteresting story.

We'll get the Twins in the title sequence this week I'm assuming.

I mentioned this about 3 or 4 weeks ago that you did see the Twins in the opening but it just flashed by in the Winterfell to Kings Landing sweep.

As for changes to the story. I would absolutely hate them changing anything from the text at all. I understand wanting to keep everything surprising, but it's such a spider's web GRRM has created that it just won't work. Besides, even knowing what happens it still surprising to me in how they are portrayed, in my head it's a lot more majestic, high fantasy looking environment except when GRRM really specifies.

Would you change War And Peace? Crime And Punishment? I see this series as much in the same vein.

Oh, how about the next 2 weeks? They are gonna have to cram a lot in right?

Personally, I don't think GoT is a series that can deviate too far from its source material, unlike True Blood (which I thought was a bit too radical in its adaptation). So what if the readers don't get any major surprises when they watch the show? Didn't they decide to watch GoT because they love the books in the first place?

Actually... I watched the first 2 episodes and found myself wanting more and sooner than a week away...so I bought the book. It does work in reverse too.

I have no problem with the show adapting and changing certain things... so long as that deviation serves the story (or the medium of TV) better. But in gerneral... I would like to see what I read on the page come to life on the screen. I love True Blood...but if I had read the books, I might not be such a fan. I loved LOTR and was pleasantly surprised with how those movies were able to stay truthful to the story, yet deviated when they needed too.

So far GOT has deviated very little (other than adding some scenes to help explain history or motive better) and the show is a GREAT adaptation of his book (so far)

i am just loving the attention this series is getting

I agree, sometimes the medium changes the story. Take 'The Two Towers' for example. Gandalf's battle against the Balrog was maybe two written lines in the book, but a massive visual sequence at the very opening of the movie... the battle at Helm's deep, a written paragraph in the book, results in being nearly 50% of the movie.

Go change things, I don't really mind, just as long as it's of the same level of quality as they have already put forth.

From the upcoming episode. Halfman! Halfman! Halfman!

I had no idea the intro added new stuff I usually fast forward passed it. Though I really like the song and intro I usually want to get to the show right away. Free hbo this weekend on directv so I can watch the episode when it airs this week.

I had a question about the dad lannister. Why is he out in a field with a lot of tents? was that just from trying get his son back so he prepared his army? Or was he on a campaign in that area and just started planning an assault to save face for his families name when he heard about his son?
