Let's talk about it getting canceled when it's in danger of being canceled :csad:

Im sure it safe right now. That being said, i will say that ive read what a lot of non-readers assume will happen next season and they are very far off and some things that most expect to happen next season wont happen for 2 or 3 more seasons. I think some may be dissappointed by this and possibly tune out eventually. Things happen in there on time and this show isnt going to follow the usual pace of most shows. Heres to hoping people show patience.

Right now, I don't want to have to wait a year for season 2. But I'll have other things to distract me while I wait. Like Elder Scrolls V. Hopefully someone makes some Game of Thrones related mods.

Haha, reading through all these pages - it's fun to be on the outside, watching how the non-readers react and what they think.

:cmad: shut it...i was pissed that
they chopped off Neds ol' head
and the gf was in shock...:argh:

Well prepare to be constantly gut-punched.

And yes, all the speculation is so wrong but interesting. People think along very linear terms, like wanting Sansa to kill Joff or other things that would be done in almost any other production ... because its obvious. Not to spoil anything because I have not here, but if one thing can be counted on its the unexpected, even when it works out how you want it.

Lol you could die by tripping down a flight of stairs in Westeros. Of course it would be no mere accident.

I loved the finale. Listening to the witch burn on Drogo's pyre was disturbing. I actually sympathizes with her more in the show than in the book. Something about the actress made me accept her reason for doing it.

Finally finished watching the season finale. While at first it seems pale in comparison to ep 9, where Ned was executed, but there's actually more going on; namely, the death of Drogo and the birth of three new dragons. My opinion of Sansa has improved greatly in this episode, and I love how she'd talk back against that brat Joffrey and almost took him down by herself. Looks like Ned raised a courageous daughter, after all.

It's gonna be a long wait for season 2.

since the season is over i figured i would read the first book then re-watch the series. i'm a few pages in and so far my biggest surprise is the ages of some of the kids, not the little ones like sansa and younger. i mean like jon and robb and the targaryens. they are much younger in the book, im glad they were cast older though would have been super creepy seeing dany in alot of those scenes.

I was worried that if they are to bring the dragons in to the story, the CGI will make them look silly (there are no money for good CGI in TV) but when I saw that scene I was shocked on the great quality of the Dragon effects.

Not to be a pessimist but I suspect that we won't see much of them (as in they won't appear unless they have to) for the very reason you pointed out.

On a separate note, has anyone noticed the irony that is Jaime Lannister?

The life of Jaime Lannister: Kills crazy king who was a product of incest, produces new crazy king who is a product of incest.

Lastly, I have a question to others who've read the book: What do you think the showrunners will do when they catch up with the books and GRRM hasn't finished the final one?

I think that since GRRM is a producer he will help them figure it out.

And it's not like we'll see Winter before HBO decides it costs too much money to make the show and cancels it. :P Heck, we're only going to really possibly catch our first glimpse at Winter somewhere in A Dance with Dragons.

We "see" the first signs of Winter at the end of A Feast For Crows. Since Dance's timeline coinsides with Feast we'll probably see it at the end of Dance.

In times like these, it feels good to pop in extended editions of LOTR...Just bought them :D

GOT bosses have promised more battle scenes, more direwolves and more CGI dragons in season two, because of their newly increased production budget.

Game Of Thrones Spoilers: Bosses say increased budget will mean more battles and direwolves in season 2!

June 20th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry.

Game of Thrones bosses David Benioff and DB Weiss have revealed that fans can look forward to more big scale battles and grandiose scenes in season two of the HBO drama.

The executives admitted that due to their small budget, they were constrained in what they could include in the initial run of the show. However, when the cast and crew return to Belfast to begin filming next month, they will be approaching things on a larger scale.

Benioff told EW.com how they were forced to compromise on various decision in season one, saying:

“Ultimately we had to make some really tough decisions. We much rather have a great scene with our characters than a crappy version of the battle.”

“We want to have some great battles, we’re working very hard to have great battles in season two. We’d like to have more direwolves too.”

Weiss added: “There’s so many things we can do so much better than films. But there are a few things like battles and creatures where there’s a brute force financial component to doing those well, and it involves being very creative and selective about how you show those things to make them achievable.

“We don’t want them to look like a PlayStation 2 game, we want it to look at the same level as the rest of the show.”

On how they would manage to shoot season two, incorporating the cost of the CGI dragons, he added:

“It’s going to be a season of tough choices. We have dragons, we have direwolves growing, we have massive battles. Despite the various character deaths, we have a growing cast of characters – all this with the same amount of time to shoot it.”

And on how the menacing direwolves will be brought to life on screen, Weiss commented: “It will be a combination of real dogs and visual effects and any other way we can make it work.”

happy?

I remember reading early part of the first book Game of Thrones, and Tyrion (I think) was talking about how the old Targaryen King & his Queen entered the battlefield with 3 dragons, who then proceed to destroy thousands of men and won against the rebels. I think it is safe to say that if these three baby dragons ever become adult, they will be able to take down Westeros with relative ease.

Looking forward to more of Gendry in the second season. He's always been one of my favorite minor characters, along with Maester Luwin.

Would have been cool if her hair was burnt off in the morning.
I hate when people don't go all the way creatively.

Haha. I remember getting a friend to start reading ASoIaF, and we got to where Ned had been imprisoned, where it's clearly not looking good for the ol' chap, and he outright asks me the question.

It was like I'd kicked his dog when I finally gave him a generic yes.

One of the more interesting things is the opinion people have of Sansa as of this episode - how forgiving the television audience is vs. how forgiving I was as a book-reader. Other readers, chime in, by all means.

My hatred of Sansa only alleviated come A Feast for Crows, which is the fourth book of the series. Her, Dany, and Bran. I still hate those last two, actually. We'll see if A Dance with Dragons does anything to change that. I doubt it will. The only reason I'm looking forward to either of their chapters is for their hangers-on.

Lastly, I have a question to others who've read the book: What do you think the showrunners will do when they catch up with the books and GRRM hasn't finished the final one?
The potential seasons to come are reported to not be full books. The third book, A Storm of Swords, will be at least two seasons long. I'm not sure what they're doing with A Clash of Kings, but I imagine they'll fit all of A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons together and stretch it out into at least 3 seasons.

We "see" the first signs of Winter at the end of A Feast For Crows. Since Dance's timeline coinsides with Feast we'll probably see it at the end of Dance.
Yes, we see some snow dropping in the south. And it goes nowhere. It isn't quite the same. Since ADwD goes past the timeline in AFfC to at least cover what happens with Jaime, Cersei, and Arya, I'm hoping we'll see more by the end of the book.

That is what my comment applied to.

Cercei also sleeps with the young Lannister squire ! :wow:
Because he reminds her of a younger Jaime.

Yeah, this is the road Dany's chapters in A Dance with Dragons are going to start treading.

The heck with that.

It works fine in prose. It'd be horribly unsightly in the visual medium.

Personally, I don't think it is a big deal that her hair didn't get burnt off; in fact, I think it seems a bit ridiculous why her hair would burn while rest of her body doesn't; I mean, it's MAGIC, and can't be explained by logics or physics. I know GRRM did it in the book, but visually Dany looks alot better retaining her hair, whereas in the book you don't have the imagery of a bald Dany to deal with.

I really enjoyed the season finale. I thought this episode was just a powerful as episode 9.

I'm 38 chapters into ACoK. I woneder how much stuff they'll change?
