Gamer Claims Identifying As a Lesbian Led To Xbox Live Ban

And they fail miserably every time. Live is one of the most hostile places on the interwebs.
 
Whats her point anyway? I don't see anyone putting "I'm straight" in their profiles....why put "I'm a Lesbian" in hers?
 
Plus, people tend to assume you're straight unless you say otherwise, since straight people are the majority.
 
Why is this in the ToS in the first place? This is just further enabling the kind of people you get on live calling others "gay mexican n**gers." What next, they ban you if you mention you're black? What the christ...
 
It's basically like the army's "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Homosexuality is so inflammatory an issue that they'd rather just avoid it altogether.

Only, y'know, Microsoft's higher-ups seem to be the only people who actually believe that's working. :o
 
Umm..... people do get banned for putting Straight in their gamer tag /profile. Also it is perfectly okay to mention that your sexual orientation in voice chat.

do they list that there married? have husban/wife? mention there girlfriend?
 
The people getting banned? I'm not sure.

no, meant the people not getting banned. Stating you're married, you have a husband/wife, boy friend/girl friend, are all forms of stating your heterosexuality. thus should not be tolerated either.

Maybe cuz stating youre gay/lesbian will create more of a stir than if you just stated ur straight? I dont know what MS has going thro their head, the whole story/situation is stupid. Its Xbox Live, nothing important.

You misunderstood. I said they don't as in they don't tolerate stating your relationship status.

I'm guessing you didn't listen to the interview because it is one of the first things the interviewee says.

Also stating your relationship status doesn't necessarily state ones sexual orientation.

In your profile, it lists male of female. If you put down something like "I love my girlfriend!" and are a male, then that is clearly stating your sexual orientation.

And trying that only exchanging girlfriend for boyfriend, I can guarantee that most of the brats you play online with will make smart ass comments.
 
Yeah, only they won't get chastised in any way while you're likely to get banned, if this incident is any indication.

Idiots. Im HAPPY she got banned! Im tired of the gay community throwing there lifestyle in everyones face and expect them to just deal. If im reading her GAMER profile I dont need to know shes gay any more then she needs to know I bang chicks on a nightly basis 2 at a time. Break rules, get punished such is life.

Avatars weren't a part of LIVE into recently and are not necessarily a representation of the gamer it belongs to.

Lots of people have weird looking avatars and avatars which purposely have no apparent gender. Alot of times female gamers have male avatars so that they don't attract alot of attention. I myself have a couple of members on my friends list that change the appearance of the avatars to completely different things on a biweekly bases.

There is no way for a member's sexual orientation to be discovered other than if that member explicitly states it in the profile which is currently against the ToS or for them to state it over voice chat which is not.
