Gamer files frivilous lawsuits against Microsoft, Nintendo

Naturally. My desire is simply for a more critical determination of such, with a healthy application of disciplinary action afterward, to serve as a disincentive to stupid **** like this. As it stands, the worse that's going to happen to this twit of a lawyer is that he'll be known as the jackass who actually tried to litigate this dreck. Move to sanctions and/or censures.

...or the cane. Whatever.

And I can certainly understand this, however I think making laws to prevent that kind of thing is not a good idea.

Wow... anything for the chance of a few extra dollars, eh? Hilarious.

Not a law. That'd be overreaching, possibly restrictive to the prospect of bringing future cases and I'm not sure how that would go about being legislated (which might be what you're getting at). The tools of latitude are already in place with professional conduct rules. It's just greater scrutiny as to what constitutes a meritless suit that would beneficial IMO.

While I agree that frivolous crap like this should be disallowed, Walrus has a point (:argh:).

Lawyers are like the press, they serve a purpose, but the way they conduct themselves is just begging for their freedoms to be limited.

I see what you're saying but there are certain freedoms that attorneys must have to prevent even further problems with the legal system.

These is just like prosecutor immunity from civil law suits. While the idea that an attorney can't get sued for framing someone of a crime they didn't commit seems disgusting as anything... Well the downside of removing that immunity means that prosecutors would stay in civil suits constantly and not be able to get any work done.

And I love you too SF.

I said this about the other thread, with the kid and the Xbox.

This is a Voter. Or will be.

:shakes head:

He won't be because he doesn't leave his house due to having depression, *****fication of a man's soul and Crohn's Disease.

So, wait, what exactly is this kid suing over?

No they don't. Our legal system, thankfully, allows ******** stupid cases to be heard and most likely dismissed. The purpose of this case I suspect has less to do with winning and more to do with gaining public attention to Nintendo's practices.

What do you think is so shady about Nintendo's practices in this case. They set up a system to unlock secret characters and this kid didn't want to go through that system. It's not like the game was unplayable without the Mario Galaxy save file, he just couldn't unlock one character.

And if he can't unlock a video game character, that's his fault. Not Nintendo's
