Games like Left 4 Dead (multiplayer, fun, easy to get into, short play sessions)??

So, I don't know why, but a couple of weeks ago my wife (girlfriend at the time) said to me out of the blue "let's play a video game, like that shooting one you play....do you have something like that but zombies?"

So I was floored....I like video games and she usually doesn't....she played Lego Batman a bit but hated it....but loved new Super Mario Wii.....anyway, I busted out Left 4 Dead, and she loved it, we played and played and played. So I bought Left 4 Dead 2 and she loved it and we play and play.....but I'm getting tired....I've got all the DLC already too....

so are there any more games like that?

FPS
Split Screen

those are the two main things.......Zombies would be cool but obviously every game isn't gonna be zombies....

What we really like about L4D is the chapters.....like we can just play one for an hour or two then be done......

I think tomorrow I'm going to try her on Halo......maybe Borderlands.....but any more reccomendations would be great....also fairly easy to manage....like less in depth, not a lot of buttons....basic point and shoot kinda game.

Thanks

Hey there, Rough! I would suggest Dead Island and Dead Rising 2. However, both don't have splitscreen so you'll need to have a separate system/game. A new 4-player Kirby game also just released that looks fun. Donkey Kong Country Returns is another great Wii title. Look these up:

Dead Island
Dead Rising 2
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Kirby's Return to Dream Land
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles

All of those are co-op in one way or another.

Resident Evil 5? Seriously? The game that is so poorly made you can't even shoot and walk at the same time?

Do you typically play FPS's? With a statement like that I'm inclined to think so.

I've been with Resident Evil since 1996 and have mastered the "tank" controls, so it's nothing new. Standing still to shoot is more preferable in a realistic setting anyway, as having successful aim whilst running in real life is next to impossible unless you have a mini-gun. But let's not dwell in reality as these are obviously not. I myself despise the action route these games have gone and they may as well have implemented run 'n gun.

Capcom listened and are seeking to amend that problem for the newer fans. So far, it's only been done with Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D and Resident Evil Revelations which are only on Nintendo 3DS. Prior to that, the underrated Resident Evil Outbreak File #2 on PS2. To say a 15 year old franchise is horrible on something so trivial as not being able to shoot and move...no disrespect, it's understandable, but complaining of a game's merits on that alone is just  to me as a long time fan.

Controls were the least of that RE5's problems any how. Now if you were to tell me how terribly the game screwed over certain story aspects, then we'll talk :awesome:

Lost Planet 2 has really exciting and cool 4-player co-op online boss battles. I don't know if anyone still plays it since it's been out for a while, though.

You know what was shocking? My friends and I grabbed a pack of beer and took a trip to the video store right after for some good group co-op games (on the original xbox we got hooked on called "Hunter: The Reckoning"). We all had played L4D but we played it so much we beat both games and wanted to look for something different. War games were out of the question as we played Halo and CoD, and we don't like sports games. You know what we found? NOTHING...everything was one player or if you wanted to play with more than one person, you needed either another xbox or to connect to LIVE.

Why didn't they make another "Hunter" game anyways?

Wow, it's been a long time since I've heard anyone mention Hunter. My friends and I played it back in the day and had a lot of fun with it.

Have you guys tried playing the Ultimate Alliance games? Or Lord of the Rings: War in the North? They're kind of similar to Hunter. Also, you could download Castle Crashers. It's a great four player action RPG in the style of beat 'em ups like Final Fight, Streets of Rage, Double Dragon, etc.

Why didn't they make another "Hunter" game anyways?

There were actually two sequels.
