Gays in Games

Hey peeps, I was wondering if there have been any serious homosexuals in games?

Do you think they should be in games?

Are there any characters that you think are gay? (eg. Zell off FF8).

Hell, the state in other forms of entertainment isn't much better, except a few positive gay characters having been on TV (Ellen, Buffy's Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay.) most of the time homosexual females and male characters are potrayed stereotypically.

I thought so, but I reckon games could be the medium that pushes the bar forwards. Can anyone think of any characters that would benefit by coming out? I reckon Dante should be gay, I don't think that would hurt him at all.

That explains a hell of a lot as to why Raiden got the leading role in Metal Gear Solid 2.

There was a boss in an old Time Crisis game who was the gayest of gay.

Likely there'll never be a lead gay character, or anything even close. Games are played by a largely male and heterosexual audience, most of whom, as demonstrated by some on these boards, aren't very receptive to gays. To put a gay guy as a lead character would likely turn some away just on the basis of 'I'm not playing as a gay guy'.

I can imagine all the moaning, even in the light of a great game. 'Great game, if X wasn't ok.'

Lesbians, of course, are fine in video games.

But ya, not sure if a main character in a first person game would ever be.. and by main i mean the person you play as, but supporting characters or games where you can be several people... definately. Btw... isnt pyramid head from silent hill suppose to represent the main character (the guy's) sexuality? not sure if the character was gay.. but i was just told that pyramid head represented his sexuality...

on a side note... having gay men in video games... could quite possibly up the female quota in playing games... not to mention theres alot of gay gamers out there... so wouldnt surprise me eventually
