There are varying sites where you can drop off old electronics instead of just throwing them away. I know, I'm on my 3rd iPod, technically my 5th mp3 player and I think it's such a waste to throw them away, but of course most of them are too obsolete to resell.

So do your part and recycle. :)

Good post, Erz. Here's another good one:

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence makes it very easy to donate old, deactivated cell phones, making them available for emergency use by people (not just women) that could really use them. Their program has saved lives by enabling people to dial 911 and get help in times of domestic crisis where their lives were in danger. A very worthwhile cause and it gets you a tax credit deduction. They even cover the cost of shipping with a pre-paid label; just print it out, box up your old cell, battery and charger and ship it:

I actually sent my last phone to soldiers overseas. I wish I had a link for that cause too.

I have a place you can drop your used electronics. Send me a PM and I'll send you my address.

This is a link within the link I just sent that shows where to drop off in your area.

You type in your city and it will show where you can drop this off.

There was a 60 minutes piece on one of these places that claimed to be a place to recycle electronics. In reality they were shipping off said electronics, in this case computer screens, to China only to be piled up like a scene out of Wall-E.

Where do you take old Coffe Makers and Broken Toasters?

The Coffee Maker doesn't turn off, and the Toaster Burns Toast on the Lowest Setting. Anyone want it?

Eh, that doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy. However, I rather take my chance with some of these places instead of just throwing out old stuff.

Do they call it Mount Monitor?

Better that it's junking up China than junking up America! : patriotic:

That was one particular place, I'll dig up the article and video. Otherwise, good thread and cause.

Zing.
