General Arrowverse Discussion

I also think some of it just isn't for me and Im ok with it. Legends of Tomorrow for example is just too goofy and campy for me but I've heard a lot of people praise the show for those same reasons.
And yeah, I don't watch Legends of Tomorrow either.
I've been hearing & reading that the show listens to its fans the most and strips off the pretrentions, whilst getting the most mileage of fan-favorites or underutilized Flarrowverse characters. Only thing that really bugged me was the amount of random fights, though not sure if they grew past that in later seasons.

Casting Lois and now Lex now indicates to me that they are indeed prepping a Superman solo series.

Also, for the Arrowverse overall, I really like what theyve been doing with these crossovers and love how each year they're more and more ambitious. Since JL s*** the bed and we're not seeing the team on the big screen anytime soon would you guys be opposed to a big crossover event with Darkseid and Apokolips? Before you scoff at the idea I think they'd do it justice. I'm continually super impressed at how these shows utilize their visual effects budgets and they seem to be getting better and better at it.

Eh, I think you're being too harsh on it. Yes, I too have big problems with the Arrowverse but I think theres a LOT they do right. I may not watch all of the shows but their crossovers have been excellent and very impressive for TV. The "Crisis on Earth X" crossover last year was way better than The Defenders....way better than Justice League even.
Ditto all of this  Like you I don't watch the shows regularly (I get too ****ed off with all the angst and relationship drama) but I dip in every now and then, stay abreast of developments via the web, and watch the crossovers. I loved both Invasion! and Crisis on Earth-X and honestly thought they both (sadly) put Justice League in the shade. Even the visual effects were better than JL for the most part.

For all its faults, the CW has still given us a live-action DC shared universe that I think does a lot right.

The Arrowverse may have some flaws, but we did get one of the best Comic Book villains on TV IMO with Thawne/Reverse Flash! Love Matt Letscher’s take, but Cavanagh is still FTW!

The Flash season one is one of the best seasons of superhero televison. Up there with Daredevil. Its just a shame the show never lived up to that season subsequently.

Definitely!

I’ve rewatched S1 of The Flash so many times. It’s fantastic, and I don’t think the movie will be able to compete. It’s a pretty definitive modern take on the character.

S2 of Arrow is pretty great too. I think it’s safe to say Arrow and The Flash are the two best CW series. I gave up on both shows for a while, but recently came back around to both of them and fell in love again.

Did the first season end on a cliffhanger? If not I might try giving that another go. If it can be viewed as its own thing.

Arrow had a drastic fall in quality for a while but its really creatively bounced back and thats thanks to Stephen Amell. The guy has been a driving force in listening to the fans and trying to make the show the best it can be. Its come a long way and its currently the only DC show I watch.

I agree, Amell should be given tons of credit for the way he's approached having the role. I didn't know him before, but I've become a really big fan of his and he seems like a genuinely nice dude as well.

Okay, so season 1 was resolved and the cliffhanger was a setup for the season 2 arc?
Not quite because we find out what happened in the s2 opening and the s2 arc is built around something else entirely. Later season finales do more set-up for the next one.

Right, okay. But the season 1 story does get a proper conclusion by the end of season 1?

Yes. Actually, if you watched season 1 and then the opening 10 minutes of the first episode of season 2 the entire season and cliffhanger resolve.

Agreed. Flash peaked early. I thought season 2 okay and I liked the finale of season 3. I thought Arrow got better as it went along, season 5 finale probably one of the GOAT Arrowverse episodes ever. aI loved LOT for all its goofiness. Excited to hear that a CW Superman is possible, if it's Hoechlin's Superman, count me in !

Umberto Gonzalez apparently debunked the Superman TV show thing :(

Ah yes. El Maybe. I long since stopped trusting his word. They may not be planning a Superman tv show, but I’ll wait to hear it from someone more reliable...

He writes for The Wrap now, which is a trade. I think he’s gotten better sources over the years.
