Wonder Woman is more global isn't she? Or at least she is in Washington DC whereas other DC heroes never venture out into the real world but stay sheltered in the goldfish bowls of their cities.

If she's in Washington, then she's not global. :oldrazz: Needless to say, we can agree that the likes of Clark, Kara, Barry, Wally (etc) should be helping out on a global scale, when generally, they don't. Seems to be a localised story-arc, compared to the global (or otherwise cosmic) theme behind Marvel.

Unlike a lot of heroes who are otherwise capable (or known?) on a global scale, the likes of Batman - a vigilante operating in a single city - may not exactly be public knowledge - at least compared to the likes of Earth-1 Barry & Earth-38 Superman. I never did quite get why heroes in the DC Universe (generally) protected a city, whereas those in the Marvel Universe (generally) protect where they're needed.

Well with Batman everything he was and everything he became is inextricably tied to Gotham. I've seen Gotham described as a metaphor for Bruce Wayne's damaged psyche, and if you go along with the theory that Batman's very presence attracts the exact extreme criminal elements that he's dedicated to wiping out, you could say that in some ways he's shaped Gotham as much as Gotham's shaped him. Batman and Gotham are almost like a single entity - intertwined in a similar way as Batman and the Joker - a never-ending cycle of cause and effect.

But in respect of some other heroes I see what you mean.
