Avi Arad Plans "Genghis Khan" Franchise

By Garth Franklin Wednesday August 27th 2014 03:19AM
"Spider-Man" film series producer Avi Arad is teaming with Chinese media entrepreneur Bruno Wu to produce the 3D adventure epic "Genghis Khan's Treasure".
Mongolian filmmaker Lisi Mai is attached to direct the English-language film which is designed to be a "worldwide tentpole and global franchise" for Seven Stars Entertainment.
The film will explore the legendary conqueror's life and is described as an "intellectual historical account of him that’s unbeknownst to a lot of people". Sequels, which would continue the story, are also being mapped out.
Casting has yet to get underway, but the film will seek Chinese and American actors. CFG will release in China and Arad says it will have a Hollywood studio partner.
The project is the first of several the pair are planning including live-action tentpoles, animated TV series, merchandising, digital platforms, and mobile apps which will be released under their Dragon Entertainment banner.

Nicolas Cage as Temujin. Make it happen! :argh:

So who will play Genghis Khan? There is evidence that he was partially white.

I remember there was a rumor years ago that Channing Tatum was going to play Genghis Khan. I don't think movie studios would still be stupid enough to attempt that, but you never know...

There are reports that he had a red beard and blue eyes. What are they gonna do? Take an "Oriental" actor and dye his hair and give him contact lenses?
