Not an origin film and Bana & Purcell in talks?!?!?!?

I hope the 120 million budget will get an additional fund if in the event it becomes a nescessity for the film.

Tell me from what you know already what you expect to be so bad about the Hulk film. You know good and well the first film was not the kind of film that would be a monster hit with fans across the world. It was too deep for most. Studios aren't making these kind of films to win awards. They're trying to get as many people in those seats as possible and deliver a fun movie for everyone to watch during the Summer. That's what comic books are all about. Some people are taking these too seriously..have fun. You don't always go to the movies for the same reason right? Sometimes you want to laugh, sometimes you want to see a good drama, sometimes you want to be just blown away by action, f/x, etc...And sometimes you just want to see your favorite characters on the screen. That's what X3 was. The actors contracts were up for the most part and they had to close that story arc with the 3rd film. Leaving that old storyline open with all the actors contracts expiring would have been bad mistake. So they made X3 more of a popcorn summer fun film and the people ate it up and loved it. Not the die hard x-men fans but the regular people. Hulk is starting sort of from ground zero again even though it's not an origin film it's still a new take on the character that will hopefully result in more films. Making another Ang-Lee type Hulk would ensure the death of the franchise...though it would make some people happy. That's not good enough. I'd rather see the franchise continue and watch some fun Summer films year after year then watch my old Hulk DVD over and over with no other options.

What i dont like about the production so far?

Zak Penn writing

Louis Leterrier directing

Bana, Connelly and probably Elliot most likely not returning

Different direction than the first movie i love

Lower budget than the first movie, which, come summer 2008 will be 5 years old.

They are changing the look of the Hulk

Avi Arad is producing.

IMO thats a lot of reasons to dislike this movie already.

And yes AD, i do go the cinema for different reasons, but i mostly go to be entertained by a GOOD and well put together movie. X3 was neither good nor entertaining, and the only emotion i felt when watching it was ANGER. Tell me, whats entertaining about a movie that completely discects and ruins one of the best X-Men story's ever AND fundamentaly changes SEVERAL major characters?

I just hope they keep hulk at the same height as they had him before. he's supposed to be gigantic!

Aveit,

You're entitled to your own opinion and tastes and I won't knock you for it. You thought X3 was bad...I thought it was good and fun to watch. We can't tell each other that our opinions are wrong.

Fair enough. But, if you'd have just said this from the start instead of challenging my viewpoint on TIH and X3 we'd have been fine.

*applauds*

You've pretty much nailed my same sentiments. I couldn't agree more.

You just have discriminating taste when it comes to how you want cinema and that's such a wonderful gift to have. Unfortunately, there are many "fanboys" that are all to easy to swallow anything with the "X" label slapped on the cover of any production regardless of quality.

Rock on!

Well said my friend, i'm not gonna just accept trash because it has a Marvel label on it, especially when i am a paying customer!

There are also fanboys that won't accept anything which is just as bad

Anyway I'm on the fence, the director so far has made second rate action flicks and we have no cast so I'll await a trailer before judging

I dont mind change as long as its necessary, a lot of X3's ones were not.

With the budgets the studios are pouring into the productions there is no excuse for bad films. We as a paying public have a responsibility to make theses changes. We have the power to make these studios work harder on this genre of films.

Unless the Incredible Hulk trailers are phenomenal there's not way I'll be participating in it. Without Eric Bana in the role there's going to be HUGE hole left in this movie. Very few actors have his range of acting.

I remember reading somewhere they were considering David Duchovny for the role. Might have been a rumor but if this is the type of list they are playing with that will be the final nail on the coffin for this franchise.

I disagree. He didn't really impress me as Banner. He's expendable.

I think if they replace Bana they should replace the rest of the cast, too. As for Purcell, jeez when are they going to get that Banner is supposed to be weakling?! Purcell is a pretty muscular guy. Heck I would actually prefer his younger brother in Prison Break to play Banner.

As an old Comic Book fan. I would rather a complete restart. What Ang Lee did was an Abombination! (no pun intended)

I would rather have Bana back. But It would be more likely to get a cleaner restart if it another actor. Who keeps pushing Purcell? The more the fans keep bring up his name the more likely they will give it to him. I want a nerd like actor if its not Bana.

Ok, well I heard his name as a replacement for Bana.

Yeah, Purcell did get mentioned a number of times over the last few months. Whatever, I just hope the film doesn't suck. The Ang Lee film was awesome.

i agree with jamon on the accounts as to why i'm not looking forward to the new hulk movie. ang lees movie is mostly a love it or hate it kind of argument. i love it, i could watch that film 2 or 3 times in a week, i've done it before, but the way they're going with the new movie, sounds more like a daredevil type, espically with the director they choose, ang lee is an artist and turned the hulk into a work of art, something deep, which i highly doubt the new movie will do, but hey, just my thoughts, there are no right or wrongs here.

I absolutlely agree w/ you on Hulk's Ang Lee film. I still have some high hopes they won't turn the 2nd installment into another Daredevil type of flick. I still don't have to courage to watch Elektra.

I dont see why they dont just make a direct sequel to Ang's movie, just make some changes in its approach and dumb it down slightly for the thickheaded GA. Ignoring it in any fundamental way will just confuse the GA anyway.

they dont really need to mention it anyway, people know that Bruce has generally always been on the run, they know about Hulk. They can make a great film without ever mentioning the first film IMO

^Have to disagree here, if people see another Hulk movie, even with a different cast, released 5 years after the first one, they are going to think its a sequel IMO.
