Geoffrey Rush is back in the mode of demanding teacher — but instead of a king’s speech therapist, the Aussie actor will be Tomar-Re, a bird-beaked alien who teaches Ryan Reynolds’ character how to use his new cosmic powers in “Green LanternWarner Bros. is expected to officially announce Thursday that the 59-year-old Oscar winner is giving voice to the CG-created member of the Green Lantern Corps, the intergalactic peace-keeping force that gets its first earthling member in Hal Jordan (Reynolds). Rush’s character — introduced in the pages of DC Comics in 1961 — is a scientist on his home planet and almost spiritual in his tutelage of Jordan even if his reptilian-chicken visage might suggest someone more, um, peckish.

I was about to post this :cmad::oldrazz:

Anyway...Great choice, imo.

Aaaaaaawesome!

Nice!

I think he played a GG pelican in Finding Nemo
A CG Owl in Guardians of Ga'Hoole
And now a CG Alien Bird Creature, is he being typecast:oldrazz:

But really great choice, just listened to an interview with him in his (non Pirate/non stuttering) regular voice, with my eyes closed and he really has a perfect voice for the character.

These very cold static images we’ve been seeing of Tomar and Kilo suddenly have life in them with the announcement of Duncan and Rush behind them. Awesome!

Up next the voice of the Guardians?

geoffrey rush has an awesome voice

his name will also be a box office draw, maybe probably

welcome to team dc, geoffrey

Would have been better news had he been cast before the character was animated.

Aren’t they still animating the characters?

wow, this is very good casting. I wonder how they got him? Would have been awesome if he played one of the Guardians instead but Tomar Re is fine too :yay:

How can the voice work still not be done? Isn't this movie out in 2 months?

They had actors doing temp voices. The dubbing of a few lines can be done in a day.

no they are not.
You don't know that.

the movie comes out in june.

So, that's your proof? That doesn’t mean production has shut down. To the contrary we know it hasn’t, they are still working on fx - which means they can tweak character animation to match actors expressions if they want until the very end. Precisely an advantage of CG characters.

And just because we only heard about this now, doesn’t mean they didn’t already have the guy in mind.

An inspired choice. Rush has the kind of voice that I've imagined Tomar-Re having.

For those who are complaining about how late Rush (and possibly Michael Clark Duncan) are coming into the movie, keep in mind that Michael Bay just hired in Leonard Nimoy to voice Sentinel Prime.

Most likely, stand-in voice actors have provided the dub, and now guys like Rush just have to sync it it; of course, they may have to tweak the mouth movements, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Great choice. How could you complain about it? The voices have been terrific so far.

Judging from the reports of the footage shown, looks like Rush already did his lines.
