Here is Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern!

Source: Entertainment Weekly July 15, 2010

From the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, here is your first look at Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern! Here's a clip from EW's article:

Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, a cocky test pilot who becomes a ring-wearing intergalactic superhero in this massive sci-fi epic from director Martin Campbell (Casino Royale). Though Reynolds has prior experience in the superhero realm from his role as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, playing Green Lantern involved some major challenges, like getting hurled through the air on a wire at up to 60 feet per second to create the illusion of flight. “The first time you do it, you’re seriously considering an adult diaper,” Reynolds says. Still, he couldn’t resist the chance to play the beloved DC Comics hero, whose power ring can conjure virtually anything he can dream up. “Will and imagination are his superpowers,” Reynolds says. “We need a circus of Timothy Learys to think of things Hal would invent with his ring.”

Green Lantern is scheduled to hit theaters on June 17, 2011 and also stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins, Mark Strong, Taika Waititi, Temuera Morrison, Angela Bassett, Jay O. Sanders and Jon Tenney.

i love it too! but i dont really like the mask that much, seems like photoshop or a manip. kinda wish it was more visor-ish, haha, and smaller. but the yeyes are great!!!

a little sci-fi but i like it, i hope there is some black and white.

i don't like that at all. hopefully it looks better in motion

OK, now that is BADASS!! I can't remember off the top of my head, but doesn't that design follow what we saw with the Sinestro concept art that was released a few months ago?

It kind of looks like the areas that are green on the costume in the comic are just lit up green while the spots that should be black are unlit, dark green. Good. I was worried how they were going to portray black on a costume that's made from a ring that creates only green constructs.

I don't know yet. I need to see more. I gotta say my first reaction is i'm not digging all the lines on it.

I think that this is something that needs to be seen in motion. It looks like it's going to have an electricity looking flow throughout the suit? I don't know, but it looks awesome to me.

I love it! It looks organic and alien and will look even better in motion!

1) Domino mask - check

2) White eyes - check

3) White gloves - check

4) Emerald light encompassing the suit - check

I'm a very happy GL fan, my friends :)

look a lot less than I expected, and some core colors are missing

Hrrmm...the gloves don't look white to me.

Never been a huge GL fan, but that suit and cover looks absolutely phenomenal. Incredible. Night time/Space fight scene is a must.

It's hard to tell from this specific image, but you can make it out when you know what to look for. The green light gives them the effect that they are green (just like his hair), but the gloves are a solid color with "veins" running to the fingertips; as apposed to the color scheme of the torso. His hands and wrists are not the same shade as the rest of the suit.

Also, check out this image that points out the lines where the gloves end on each forearm:

So we actually got a glimpse of the costume at the Licensing Expo last month. The costume shown on the cover of EW looks just like this artist's rendering.

The costume looks good. Not ashamed to be a comic book design. But Reynolds head looks odd. He is the wrong man. I hope they dub his voice :cwink:

I like it a lot. Don't understand the complaints about the lines in the costume, if anything it adds some flavor or personality to the suit. Otherwise it would just be another plain looking suit.

We'll obvious need a better look at it, but provided there's actually some color breakup, I like it. They came through on giving the suit an alien, more organic feel; like something the ring would create, as opposed to a standard uniform. Mask is kinda funky, but it's early. All in all, thumbs up.

I like it a lot, but why does he have green hair?

awesome

will probably look even better and stand out more once we see it in action

I don't really know what to say. First thought that entered my mind when I saw this picture was that it looked kinda fake, kinda like those really well done manips that look awesome but you can still tell that it ain't real, The CGI is kinda obvious. That mask in particular looks like it's been painted on. I dunno, maybe the costume will look better in motion, time will tell.

Not crazy about the mask, I expected there to be some sort of texture to the costume. With it being CG we're really going to have to wait to see how it looks in the film because who knows how well these pictures are photoshoped unless its a still from the film.

I think it looks fantastic. Whilst I know many people would love to see the traditional costume portrayed identically on screen, it would look outdated. This gives the costume a very fresh touch and also manages to add an organic look to it, in keeping with how the costume will be formed by the ring. The glowing lines in the costume are also in keeping with that, glowing almost as if there's power pulsing through the suit.

I think Ryan Reynolds looks great in the role too, like he was made for it.
