I also said it was the end of the Silver age, the responses to my remarks were not good, so I'm EXTREMELY happy...

You got flak for that? Really?

Strange. I was always of the impression that the majority of fandom agreed with that assessment. I know I do.

I've said it a million times, the Hobgoblin should've been behind the whole thing, if they REALLLY needed a mastermind.

Holy crap, somebody besides me thought about this? Ned Leed's was there during the Clone Genesis! He heard everything! It would have worked!

Seeing as how bad the writing was in the 90s, particuarly how they took the original Hobgoblin (until retconned), had him die like a sissy, crying for Spider-man while being beaten to death by non-Superhumans despite wearing his full goblin outfit in his hotel room in Germany for no reason and replacing him with Macedale; a character that almost every writer seemed to hate and took a mantle of a former A-list villian to C- thug, I preferred them staying AWAY from him. (Note: I liked Hobgoblin Lives, loved the Hobgoblin arc in Spider-girl, I just don't want him raked through the mud from bad writing).

Anyway, I would have preferred Bart Hamilton. Former Green Goblin, had access to most of Harry's secrets from their psych sessions, could have pulled a Kinglsey and gone around raiding Goblin headquarters and found one with notes mentioning Peter's secret ID. What better way to re-establish yourself after years of hiding, by making yourself known as the new, badass "true" Goblin on the block than using your psychologist skills to drive your "nemesis" insane, following it up by killing his unborn child and rubbing it in his face while beating him to death?

I should've been more specific.:cwink: I meant the Kingsley Hobgoblin, not Macendale. The Hobgoblin lives mini you mentioned came out at the tail end of the Clone saga, just in time to explain what happened to him. Unfortunately Marvel had other plans.:whatever:

Aloha,
Agreed.
I also enjoyed the fact that they both acknowledge the difference between the comic book business back in the 1970's and now.Comic book artist, writers and characters (particularly Spider-Man), have become international Pop Icons. When you remember that Spider-Man was a throw away idea for the last issue of Amazing Fantasy who has become a multi billion dollar character-Who knew they were making history-they were happy just to have a job.But for those of us who were fans from the start, we knew, and we should always keep Marvel on their toes regarding quality writing for the character.
Spidey rules

Spidey rules my friend, he rules.
