Ghost Rider Visual Guide

I picked this up last week and just finished reading through - this is one of the coolest reference books I've had the pleasure of buying, and a must have for any Ghost Rider fan! Considering it was written by an outside publisher (liscenced through Marvel), I was surprised by the sheer amount of facts the book got correct - it's all here, from Zarathos to the Medallion of Power to Noble Kale to the current series! The only noticeable absence from the history section is the Peter Parker: Spider-Man issue that endcapped the 90's series (and of course, any info from Ghost Rider # 94 is omitted). It's got interview snippets from Howard Mackie, Roy Thomas, Mike Ploog, Don Perlin, Garth Ennis, and tons of awesome images from the comics in a chronological history of the character.

Though be warned, the section on the movie contains some major spoilers with no advance notice - I'm kicking myself for reading it, as it had lots of plot points in it that I didn't know, including part of the ending. So, yeah, be wary when you read through that section.

Buy this book, it's only 20 bucks and well worth the money!

they should be handing this out to everyone at the the IMDB GR forum...heh

and yeah the movie spoilers were out of the blue too....gives out 3 pretty big ones.

Ah, I didn't know it was being talked about elsewhere on the board, or I would've just mentioned it there. I tend to shy away from the other sections of the forum, as the comics are obviously where I'm the most comfortable in my knowledge, lol.

And I agree about it being a great book for both longterm fans and new readers. I knew all of the information contained in it, but the presentation was top notch and made for a great read.

Got my copy baby! Way too much spoiler on the movie, it almost feels like this book should have come after the release of the film, but oh well, its great!

The picture on Amazon.com doesn't do it justice. The pictures are very vibrant, beautiful, and the shots of GR from the movie are very wicked!

This is the book you want to show friends who are interested in Ghost Rider, its also a MUST have for fans. The story in their is pretty deep, I haven't read it all, but that won't be for long.

Get it!

Hey sorry if this been discussed in other forums or somewhere but in case no one know about it or something, i got the ghost rider visual guide book i got it on new year's eve and i just finished reading and it's got some major spoiler's, some stuff some may know and other stuff not many prob know's so read if u reaily want to.. and i also got the new visual guide of x-men month's before x-3 came out and also had pic's and info that wasent known about yet, i want to say the film may not be much like it happen in the comics. but i am sure will still be great and i think it will reaily be like true comic johny blaze/ghost rider...oh and if everyone do know about this, plz dont start bashing me i was just trying to help....

Seven-teen year old johnny blaze co-stars with his father, Barton, in the Amazing Blazing Stunt Cycle Spectacular. A spirited young youth , he still believes he is indestructible and is prone to showing off. Johnny is in love with Roxanne Simpson, but her father ,Quentin Simpson,dissaproves of thier relationship. the young lovers plan to ran off together but all this changes when Johny discover's his father is dying of cancer.

Mepthisthopeles:Mpethisopeles is a formidable adversary,A slippery devil with a silver tounque,he interferes in human affairs through his Ghost rider,he wants johnny blaze to inherit the mantle.

Barton Dies:Cured of cancer,but not understanding why, an exuberant Barton misjudges a stunt and dies in johnny's arms.

Mepthisthopeles's strength is his ability to exploit the vulnerability of other's, recognising Johnny blaze's problems-hi desire to be wit hRoxanne simpson and his father's illness. mepthisopeles offers to cure barton's cure for exchange for johnny's soul. Nicking young johhny blaze's finger with a paper cut, he takes his drop of blood as agreement.

Battleing the BlackHeart:Transforming into Ghost Rider, Johnny is swept int oa series confronations with Blackheart his demonis allies. Although no one else is hurt,the collalateral damage is signigficant.

Tragedy of San Venganza:Metting an inscrutable old man called Caretaker, John Blaze learns about the tragedy of San Venganza. Mepthistopheles arrived in this town 150 years agom and corrupted its inhabitants by offering them great wealth in exchange for their souls. Sending in his Ghost Rider, Mepthistopheles orderd him to use his powers to collect the souls onto a scroll- the Covenant of San Vnganza.

Son of Mepthistopheles:The Caretaker never returned the Covernant to his master, and since then it has become legendeary,Blackheart is determined to find it and use it to overthrow his dather.

Mepthistopeles makes good:Fifeteen years from his original bargain with Hohnny Blaze, Mepthistopheles returns to make good on their agreement. Although Johnny accuses him of treachery, Mepthistoheles refuses to let Johnny back out of his commitment. As the sun starts to set, Johnny begins his first tansformation into the demon biker, the Ghost Rider.

Choices:Mepthistopheles orders johnny to return Blackheart to him alive. However, Mepthistopeles has underetimated this Ghost Rider-unlike his previous servants, Johnny had sold his soul for love. As Blackheart consumes the souls on the Covenant, Ghost Rider uses his Penance Stare to make his revisit his sins. Although he is retuned to his father alive,Blackheart has lost his mind.

During Johnny's first transformation into Ghost Rider, the bike is similary altered-charged with flame it becomes the hellcycle.

Johnny's place:Johnny is to focused on his stunt career that his garage becomes his home.

Caretaker:After his first night as Ghost Rider, an exhausted Johhny Blaze collapses at the feet of caretaker, Enigmatic, straight-talking, and wise,Caretaker outlines the history of the Ghrost Rider to his young freind. As johnny's battle with Blackheart escalates, he comes to realize that Caretaker is i nfact Carter Slade,his predeccor as Ghost Rider.

Roxanne:Even as a teenager,Rozanne Simpson loved Johnny Blaze. When he turns his back on her after his father's death, she is devastated. Throwing herself into her career she becomes a high-profile TV reporter, only meeting Johnny again many years latter.

Blackheart:Utterly without remorse and greedy for power, the demon Blackheart does not care who dies or how much suffering he causes on his mission to seize the cvenant of San Venganza. He is detemined to defeat his father.

With a stab of his finger, poisonus necroplasm seeps into his victims, transforming them into mummyfied corpses.

The Hidden:Balckheart carefully plans how to get the Covenant of San Venganza. Knowing that his father will send a Ghost Rider, he forges an alliance with three elemental demons, Abrigot,Wallow,Gresisil, These demons have the ability to ide inside any object, but their powers is nothing compred to Blackheart's. Although they distrust him, they fear him even more, and so they join him.Gressil can control fire and attempts to immolate Ghost Rider.

I know most of this i guess people already know it but there still may be some who dont know some little info, im just helping out.. this movie seem better and better and damn the young johnny blaze reaily does look alot like cage,lol

Editing how?? u mean like bold the spoiler's or something??(i dont know how), what i typed is exactly how it say's in the book, word by word,letter by letter but hey yea the book is great and perfect to know the whole history of all major stuff through the year's, for me was great and addictive reading even more then the x-men book(Must-Read) i had only read some few comics of johnny blaze's ghost rider,i never knew of dan ketch/his ghost rider and of vengence but i never knew the Ghost Rider history was so great and make's me t oreaily want to see the movie right away
