Giant Centipede eats Mouse

Leto Atrides said:
I meant the mice are not intelligent, so it's not as big a deal if they die as say, an ape or a pig or something. I didn't mean the centipede is mentally superior. The mouse might be able to get away, but it happens to some extent in the wild. It's not that easy for them, but they do eat small mammals in the wild.

Getting pleasure out of this does indicate they are pretty sick, but I don't think being sick merits getting the same treatment as the mouse.

You seem to feel for animals more than me though, so we're of two minds on the situation.

they are rats, end of story. They shouldn't have compassion thrown to them.

It's freaking out of control!!! The second video on the youtube site is even more graphic!!! There is a total "stalking segment" by the black centipede, followed by a forced slight-of-hand, in this case the quill of a man! (Shivers!!)

I dont know,it sounds really ****ed up so I think I'll skip it.At least the cat getting attacked by a horde of rodents was mildly comedic in a twisted way.

I got to feed him his Pug nosed puppy first.
Good for you. Then you can both sit back in your self made rocking chair (with a shotgun in one hand of course) and watch some NASCAR together.

Compared to a centipede, yes. But among mammals, not extraordinarily.

It can still feel and understand pain though.

Do you think centipedes are particularly intelligent? I don't think watching an innocent animal die in a gruesome way is right. For a teenager/adult to sit there and feed the mouse to centipede while living is sick. You know that you can buy dead mice to feed to your pet right? It's beyond me why you would have a pet centipede in the first place... but yeah. In nature... a mouse probably wouldn't meet a centipede. This isn't like out in the wild... the mouse tried to run away in the video and the mouse was clearly faster than the centipede... it's just that the damn humans kept pushing it back towards the centipede and it was enclosed in a glass case. People who do this are sick in one way or another... buy dead animals to feed your god damn pets. Ugh.

You can't feed animals something dead! This is rediculous! You buy mice like that by the dozens in stores, specifically to feed. What the f@# do you think they do in zoos??? Feed rotting corpses to everything so that the animals can't practice their NATURAL PREDATORY INSTINCTS. That's Boston for you...completely sheltered.

while you go watch Steel Magnolias on Lifetime.

They know it's something to avoid, but they don't understand it in any way humans do. Except for some primates and sea mammals, no animals are close to sapient.

What the hell are you talking about? You can most certainly feed animals who are supposedly YOUR FRIGGIN PET a dead animal. Do you feed your cat or dog live animals? So... if I have a cat I am supposed to let loose a mouse or a bird for them to kill and eat? I'm not talking about the wild or natural predatory instincts you jackass. I am talking about pets... they aren't wild animals. They are supposed to eat food that is dead. If you keep a monkey as a pet... and then let it out to the wild... it won't survive. When a animal is a pet... it isn't supposed to go around killing to eat... the owner is supposed to provide the food for them... and that food should be dead.

But you can at least agree that its pretty ****ed up,no?

That the guys enjoy it, yes. I don't really feel bad for the mouse though.

And it's ****ed up to see, most certainly.

Never heard of it... but I'll check it out... you must be if you know what is currently on Lifetime.

What is this? How old are you? You two need to settle this in a hotel room.

To each his own, I guess.

As a compromise, I think we can both agree it's weird as all get out, and the perpetrators are f'ed up.

I am 19. Alright, Man-Thing and I can settle things in a hotel... but he can't bring his "special friends" with him this time.

We're talking about a centipede, not a Cat or Dog. I'm glad you're clever enough to attempt a switcharoo...

Furthermore, this has entered the relm of speculation b/c none of us know for sure that the centipede is even a pet!

It could be a temporary catch. I know that if I stumbled upon something this extraordinary I'd want someone else to witness it. I personally wouldn't go so far as to go out, find a mouse, and feed that mouse to the centipede, but i'd dang sure video tape it if I could. My point was how MASSIVE it is, but I have enjoyed watching this thread go nuts over the video!

We're talking about pets... and the centipede was clearly being kept as a pet.

It is a pet... it was in an enclosed glass case with things that would decorate a snake cage. It was clearly a pet.

It was a pet... it was in a glass casing. It had little tree branches and etc. all inside it. They dropped the mouse in (similar to something done with a snake) and watched the centipede eat it. They may have found the centipede in the past... but it was being held as a pet at that point.

But the fact remains that zoo animals are fed live meals every day for the simple preservation of their animal instincts. If snakes/centipedes/etc were always given dead prey, would we then have an entirely new and different problem...

...Reptilian (Animal) Obesity!

Zoo animals aren't the same as pets. Also... not all zoo animals are fed live meat. You can't really can't say that it is vital to feed a centipede or a snake a live meal rather than a dead meal. Some people do feed their snake dead mice and dead food. They don't have problems with their snakes when feeding them dead meals. They are pets... they should be fed dead meals.

I officially think giant centipedes are evil creatures that deserve to be wiped out.

You base "evil" on the looks of the centipede. Sure it looks "evil" when you go along with what society has taught us through images. It is about the most inhuman, nonmamal looking thing you can find, but it's silly to let that reason to suggest it is "evil." Maybe you are "evil". ;)

I'm off to bed. It's been fun, maybe. Goodnight Slipknot, Man-Thing, others... Be sure to check under your respective beds for EVIL centipedes! :)

While I think that deriving joy from watching an animal die is nothing commendable, it is also not commendable to force animals away from their predetory instincts simply because they are "pets". My cat needs to hunt, I don't try to domesticate him simply because he is a pet, I let him hunt. Animals tend to like to eat live food, it's in their nature, get over it.
