Which ones do you prefer to get over the holidays. Me i prefer getting money that way you can spend it anyway. I got one today from my dad a whole 25 dollars I guess that's all i'm worth to him. Yet he spends over 150 dollars on a TMX elmo for my sisters kid and shes only like 6 or 7 month old. Plus he gave her 50 bucks and a bunch of baby food and clothe.

But anyway enough of my holiday misery. Let's see your choice now.

perhaps make this a poll?

depends on where the gift card is from
but for the most part, money

Money. All gets banked towards me leaving this ****tip country.

Yeah but the nearest Walmart is a hour away from me and I have to take the bus to get there.

I suppose money. Since theres a fairly decent chance the giftcard is for a store that has everything in their inventory overpriced, where you can buy the same thing a mile or two up the road for $5-10 bucks cheaper.

Atleast thats been my experience.

Money is better as you can spend it on anything but a gift card feels more like a present.

I quess money because it more flexible, but gift cards can be good if you take time to figure out what someone likes.

Also, are you seriosly upset your dad spends more on his grandchildren then you.

I know. money is better. The last few years i've gotten gift cards. and there like for 10 dollars. What the point of giving a gift card if its only 10 bucks. Just give the person 10 bucks.

i can do whatever i want with money unlike store gift cards- a music/dvd gift card would be alright in my opinion

My friend bought his entire family gift cards b/c he had absolutely no idea what to get them.

Man I wish I was that disconnected with my family.

JAL...you should have a job, that's why. Yes, the kid got a gift it shouldn't get because it's so young, but it doesn't have a job.

JAL, in a way I feel bad for you. I see where you are coming from with your Dad only giving you $25.00 but you are also a 25 going on 26 year old man. You should have your own job and life.

However, you shouldn't at all resent your niece, his grandchild or your sister with being given a little extra.

My Dad spoils my niece to no end and if he only had enough money for one of us, I'd make sure he'd give it to her.

Honestly, yeah in a way it's unfair, however you are old enough that you should accept it and shouldn't allow it to effect you.

On the topic of gift certificates versus money?

When you are younger, money is probably the most preferable option giving that your parents just took it and put it in the bank.

However, gift certificates are a lil bit more personable and shows you put some effort into purchasing a gift.

I'm sick and freaking tired of the "you need to get a job thing"

**** its not like i'm trying. It's not my damn thought there's anything in this ghosttown for me to do.

It's the easy way out when you're lazy.

Saying that money is the ultimate in lazy but you probably have to give more than you could get away with spending on a present :(

So you move to where the work is, or make some other type of arrangements.
