Friends or family? You said you have family who works on a farm, ask to live and work with them.

If it's been 1-2 year since you haven't gotten a job, maybe it's time to look elsewhere.

Economics teacher in university said that giving gift certificates was dumb, because they are like giving cash, but cash with limitations on how you can spend it. However, Americans are still expected to shell out billions for them this holiday season. So maybe we should at least be informed before giving our gift-giving dollar to them.
