Same. I think Prometheus is just a better made film than Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection. People are always split about Alien 3 depending on who you ask but it's pretty agreed upon that Resurrection isn't good, even if it does have one of my first loves, Winona Ryder.

Alien: Covenant, on the other hand, was a half-assed remake of Alien that was only worth watching for Michael Fassbender.

I go back and forth about whether I like Prometheus or the Assembly Cut of Alien 3 more. But I definitely like Prometheus more than the theatrical cut of Alien 3. Alien Resurrection is all kinds of awful with one redeeming quality. Covenant was just so shallow.

I love Gladiator, but one of the keys to its success was Russell Crowe’s megastar making performance. I just can’t see that being duplicated here for a sequel.

The original Gladiator 2 script by Nick Cave had Maximus waking up in the underworld only to be sent back to Earth by the Gods to stop Christianity and fight Lucius (Spencer Treat Clark).

Mescal won’t be replacing Crowe’s Maximus, whose character met his end in the original film, but instead he will be playing Lucius, the son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen), who now is a grown man as the story takes place years after the first film ended.

Paramount has just dated the Ridley Scott directed follow-up for Nov. 22, 2024.

Wonder what the title ultimately will be, presumedly as it doesn't have to do with gladiators lol. Obviously not Gladiator 2, but for sure the studio will invoke the title in some way ala A Knives Out Mystery.
