Action-Adventure Gladiator Sequel | Paramount

I like Nolan's movies a lot but can't say I agree with him here.
To be fair, he did say "favorite" and not "best" which is something that people tend to jump on, myself included, but there is a difference. For example, my favorite movie from 2019 is probably Avengers: Endgame but I in no way would call it the best movie of that year, which would IMO be Parasite.

Yeah, I don’t really understand why people take it personally or jump in to say they’re wrong. As if they wouldn’t disagree with your choices either lol There’s not a consensus for these things.

Personally, it’s kind of refreshing when I hear a pick that’s not on everybody’s list.

I saw it last night and really enjoyed it. Although the two women next to me talked the whole time and also had to cover their eyes during the fight scenes. Not sure what they were expecting. It’s called “gladiator 2” not “Paul mescal asks how your day was”.

It’s an interesting film in the current era and I think it has something to say about masculinity and men being dragged into the cult of devotion. Not sure yet 100% what it was saying but it’s definitely an interesting film

I think Paul Mescal is the biggest problem with this movie. He just doesn't have the charisma for a leading role in a movie like this. I was constantly being reminded that he's no Russell Crowe. (And it really doesn't help that the movie keeps bringing him up 😅)

I still somewhat enjoyed the movie, it's fine, but it's forgettable.
