Action-Adventure Gladiator Sequel | Paramount

I’m digging it, whatever it is they’re doing.

It probably won’t be an Oscar contender like the original, but Ridley Scott just throwing it all in there is kind of fine by me.

Though I would’ve liked to have seen the Maximus trying to get out of the afterlife sequel they tried to do lol

And the modern song is for the crowd that’s like, “Roman times? Isn’t that old? Zzzzzz” it’s obviously not going to be in the movie itself.

Minus the odd choice of music, the trailer works well. I'm interested.

It looks... questionable. Also I have myriad of questions regarding Lucius' backstory as presented here which doesn't make a lick of sense?

Whoever decided that song placement was a good idea should never have input on editing a trailer ever again.
I can picture the trailer editing room- Wouldn't it be Epic to see the Maximus twin blade beheading, redone set to hip-hop, we are so edgy.
Garbage layered upon garbage.

Eh, it looks like big silly Hollywood extravaganza with none of the heart of the original or reason to exist, and they seriously need to stop using modern songs in period pieces in the marketing. I would give Scott the benefit of a doubt but he hasn't made anything truly remarkable since the first movie, so that pretty much aligns with what I was expecting.

Surprised that a seasoned thespian like Denzel would go so broad for this role, but maybe that's just trailer editing.

From Day One I was questioning how Denzel would fit into a movie like this and you know he what, I still dont think he does but I dont care. We're getting American Gangster Denzel back in this. :funny:

I thought the trailer was pretty good. Initially, I'm not feeling Denzel's portrayal. I'm hoping it wasn't a miscast or mistake in direction of his character because I LOVE Denzel in everything. I'm looking forward to watching it.

Also, the rap music took me out of the trailer. Please have an epic Zimmer-esque soundtrack ready for the feature film.

I kind of wanted Denzel to bust out that London accent from his eighties movie Queen and Country again. It would of been hilarious :funny:

No, they should play Kid Rock as the original did that we all highly respected. :o

Would you say those are comparable trailers? One was edited strictly for the Super Bowl, complete with intercut football footage. The other is the first trailer released to the public.

I think this would be more comparable as it is the original's Trailer #1:

I guess that's how it is now. I'm fully expecting "Not Like Us" to play over Coogler's next trailer.

Oh my bad, I forgot the SuperBowl was a private event.

The Super Bowl isn't a private event, obviously, but the trailer you posted for your argument was cut for that specific event.

Gladiator II's first trailer is not cut for a specific event.

I get it. You don't think having rap is a big deal. All I said was that it was distracting to little ol' me along with my initial exposure to Denzel's portrayal.

Was there a late 90s-00s bizarre trend to randomly insert a few inverse frames into trailers?

I can't be the only one who finds the budget for this to be crazy though right?

This looks fun as hell and who could say no to that cast? Denzel, Pedro, Mescal, and Joseph Quinn and that other dude as Joffrey and Joffrier :o

Great cast for this one; I'm intrigued.

I literally just rewatched Gladiator on Prime a few days back--I don't think I had seen it since close to its initial release. It still holds up.
