Action-Adventure Gladiator Sequel | Paramount

Eh. Looks like the same movie. I mean, the spectacle looks good and all, but it's just the same movie with nostalgia bait. I know I am going to be seen as minority guy here cause I am sure people are going to be fawning over this, but....meh. I don't see a world here where this isn't just living in Gladiator's shadow for me. If I am watwatching a worse version of the same movie, why don't I just....watch Gladiator instead

Ah, yes, the classic "Why is there rap music in my historical trailer" complaint is back again

Anyway, this looks like it rocks, so far. Denzel looks like he's already stealing the show, but it's a strong first look at Mescal and Pascal. And really, I'm just here for the coliseum naval battles. Count me in!

I feel the same way. It almost looks like a remake.
I'm still watching it because I doubt is gonna be a bad movie but I don't see anything new to get excited about.

This makes me want to watch Kingdom of Heaven. Ive never seen it people keep saying his director’s cut is a masteriece.

It truly is a masterpiece of filmmaking.

I was never expecting this to be as good as the first movie anyways but I'm at least hoping it's on par with The Last Duel which is easily Scott's best film since The Martian IMO.

Trailer looks good to me but I'm a sucker for films like this and Denzel playing himself is never a bad thing no matter how out of place it might seem.

He looks like he's honestly having a blast in this and the budget is definitely onscreen.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got the same impression. I was hoping for a little bit of a different premise. Heck, the story of the real life Commodus would be interesting and different. Just put a different Emperor in the role. Yeah, it wouldn't be history, but the actual films aren't anything close to reality to begin with.

lol I’m amused by how irked so many people seem to be about the song choice.

Some of y’all mf’s have no appreciation for A Knight’s Tale and it shows.
Yeah, because a fictional medieval action comedy film and a historic epic drama movie have the exact same tone. :oldrazz:

I guess that's how it is now. I'm fully expecting "Not Like Us" to play over Coogler's next trailer.
A menacing slowed down version of "Not Like Us" will definitely be featured on a trailer to something within the next few years

I'm baffled why this is happening in the first place. I saw the 2000 film many years ago.

Hard to tell from the trailer if it's a complete rehash of the original film or does some new things. There's definitely similarities there. But overall, it looks good and the production values are high.

The music definitely took me out of it though. I don't care if it's rap or rock or pop, contemporary music just doesn't fit with a Roman epic, it needed orchestral symphonies and something dramatic.

The character posters of this look bad. They are basically random production stills and decided to only show half of their faces...

And also Ridley Scott probably wants to throw his hat in the ring for Best Director again since the first movie was his closest shot at it.
