Glee II: More GLeek!

Ryan Murphy resonds the KOL drummer's supposed 'homophobic remark' (the drummer has since clarified that his comment wasn't intended to sound homophobic and apologized for the confusion)

I wonder how long until all of this blows over.

"Just read Nathan Followill's Tweet…in which he implied I should ‘get a manicure and buy a bra.’ Wow. That's a homophobe badly in need of some education. I'm all for manicures, don't wear a bra. Would guess most gay dudes don't. But it's telling that Nathan can reduce a group of people to a mean-spirited cliché, in a time where young gay men are killing themselves all over the country because of hatred like this.

That said, I would love to sit down with Nathan or any member of Kings and Leon, and tell them how on Glee we actually love their music, and support their artistry…but cannot condone or even laugh at their clear disdain of gay people. "

I find it disgusting that Ryan started this whole mess but is now playing the victim, using the 'homophobia' comeback that the media so loves to eat up in this day and age.

I wonder what KOL is going to respond with.

EDIT: It was fairly obvious to me that the tweet in question was him just showing his disdain for solely Ryan Murohy, and not at all about gays in general. This is being made out to be a bigger deal then it actually is.

KoL's music sucks anyway. I only see this as a positive.

I see it as a positive too. Finn can't ruin a Kings of Leon song! :yay:

Let all musicians take this as a lesson: If you say no to Ryan Murphy he will ***** about you to the press.

Its especially immature once you realized that Kings of Leon turned them down last summer and he is just now bringing it up and acting like this.

Finn can't ruin a Kings of Leon song, anymore than they already have.

The Kings of Leon have seemed like ass-hats from the beginning anyways, I think they are the ones who started cancelling shows like divas because it'd rain or a bird pooped on one of them.

Not that Ryan Murphy's attitude about it is better, but KOL seems like the big ass hat here for bringing in a cliche to insult someone personally, which really Murphy said NOTHING about the KOL's personal life.

Now Slash? I could understand him perhaps throwing a little mud since Ryan essentially called him a washed up has been.

He was right though...

This is the unreleased song from Rocky Horror that was on the DVD set

I cant even tell who that's supposed to be...

the comment wasn't supposed to be a dig at Murphy being gay but they could have worded it better.

Then what the HELL is it suppose to be about? It's pretty clear what it's about? I mean I'm not offended by it, but there's no two ways about it he was saying that Glee/Ryan Murphy is teaching kids to be gay.

It was about Ryan acting like a little *****. Crying like a little girl because he can't use their music.

Oh, so it's not homophobic, it's just sexist. Cool.

That's just how young people talk/trash talk these days. It is certainly the kind of thing people in my generation say.

You are right, though. It is more sexist than anything. But screaming homophobia is going to get you more media attention, as Ryan well knows. And now he can play the victim, even though he started this mess.

Ryan wouldn't have even received such comments if he would have just kept his damn mouth shut. Seriously, this whole KOL thing happened last summer! Why the hell did Ryan come out just now guns blazing cursing them so badly?

Yeah. Sexist, homophobic. Either way it's NOT good and THEY look like bigger asses than Ryan. I mean he has a point? Why WOULDN'T you want your music on one of the most popular shows on TV right now?

Why fear for my generation? We're the future, so you should worry about that instead. :yay:

From what I hear, it was because the one song Ryan wanted was their most famous one. The one that got them mainstream attention. The song was already over-promoted and their core fanbase was nearly accusing them of selling out. The wisely chose not to put their songs on Glee, not wanting to alienate their fans.

And that is still no reason for Ryan to be starting ****. Who cares what reason they don't want there songs on the show! There's still no reason to go to an interview and say "F**K YOU KINGS OF LEON FOR THAT THING THAT HAPPENED 6 MONTHS AGO THAT I AM BRINGING UP RIGHT NOW FOR SOME REASON!!!"

He needs to get over the fact that not every artist wants their music on Glee.

And KOL's drummer should phrase his words better, because everything can be twisted to sound like something its not. Better yet, he should just let the other KOL guy deal with it, he sounded much more mature:

"This was never meant as a slap in the face to Glee or to music education or to fans of the show," says lead singer Caleb Followill, responding to Ryan Murphy's "F— You" comments. "We're not sure where the anger is coming from. We just said no to a license for a TV show, which we do a lot."

I never listed to Kings of Leon until today. I checked out the song Ryan wanted ("Use Somebody") and it sucked. Badly. I don't know why Ryan wanted it anyways.

The guy in KOL is just being immature...

Can I just enquire, exactly how old are you?

20.

And I think Ryan and the KOL guys all need to **** and let their PR guys speak for them from now on.

In fact, this snippet is most likely the accurate theory about Kings of Leon reasoning making those comments:

Oh, Kings of Leon. In the past I’ve come down sort of hard on them, but after, ahem, taking an awkward photo with Caleb and Jared, I realize that they’re misunderstood. They come off as a-holes, but they’re really just Dudes. A Dude is a guy who would never “get” a show like Glee, in that it would never cross their radar and if someone made them watch it their Dudeness would form a mental barrier, not even allowing the sound and picture to enter their brain. It would just not compute. Another thing with Dudes is that when they come off as a-holes they don’t realize it, and even if they actually are acting like a-holes, they really don’t mean to. I mean, sometimes they mean to. But more often than not their real crime is just not being self-aware. What I’m saying is that the Kings of Leon are the Kings of the Dudes.

Well considering you're only 2 years younger than myself I'd like to clarify for anyone else reading, you do not speak for the generation and most people young people do not talk like that. Thankfully.

You are right, however about Mr Murphy and KOL needing to shut up. Celebrity feuds grow tiresome very quickly IMO.

^HAHA!!! That's the best definition of a "dude" I've ever seen.
They're hipsters b****** anyway, and probably don't want to let their music be on the show because it's "mainstream" now. There are some artists, who are honored to have their music looked upon as a piece of important pop culture, like Paul McCartney and Madonna, and there's dip***** like the Kings of Leon who think they're too good for stuff like this, when they really aren't.
The lead singer of Kings of Leon has a very weak singing voice anyway, along with Brandon Flowers. There are songs on Killers albums that make me cringe because Flowers' voice fails.
