Blaine is a cash cow because of Darren's pre-existing fans of A Very Potter Musical and Starkid. I see it as nothing more than cashing in on that. I'm waiting to see what actually happens on the show, but the fact Kurt attends a single's party in the Valentine's Day episode is pretty telling.
