Did your parents ever cast this age-old punishment on you? Mine never did. In fact, I don't think I know anyone that ever had this particular judgment declared on them.

I guess I understand how it can be effective, but I've never seen it in action. You?

Supper generally means the evening meal..though I call it dinner more often than not. My grandma however calls it supper whenever I'm at her house, so I wrote that as a tribute.

I was never THAT bad of a kid, or maybe I just never got caught, either way... My mom sent me to bed without 'supper' a couple times, but she would always end up feeling bad and come get me. She stopped after she found out I didn't really care, and a good ol' butt whooping took it's place...

In honor of this thread, Ill send my daughter to bed without supper tonight for no reason!

My dad woke me up once and beat me for leaving my TV on. I surprisingly felt nothing due to being too tired I guess.

If my mom would have ever beat me while I was sleeping, I probably would have punched her in the face. Ever since I was little, anytime I got really scared by someone I would throw punches.

I was never an easy child to punish, and was never sent to bed without dinner unless I decided that I didn't like what was given to me and therefore didn't eat much. I was usually confined to my room for minor things and got beatings or (much worse) had all my books taken away for the major stuff.

I hit my brother with a sick once, and I got spanked with it. It sucked.

I also think the problem with America is that punishment has gotten so weak. When I did something wrong, or got in trouble and got a smack, I didn't want to do it again cause I knew I would get hit. Now, lots of parents are trying to be there kids friends, instead of the parent, that's all bad.
I'm glad my mom spanked my brothers and I, I think we grew up better. We knew what the consequences would be if we did something stupid.
