Has anyone here read this?
I'm thinkin about getting it since I've read online that its very good, on par with The Killing Joke, but somehow never got much publicity.

The whole concept of Joker living a normal life with Batman gone seems gold

Not on par with the Killing Joke but a pretty solid story

It was very good. Not brilliant, but very good. I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

I'd recommend it. Nothing groundbreaking, but a decent story that does well in highlighting the Batman/Joker dynamic, particularly on the latter's behalf.

The art was a bit dull but the story worked well. I think it only worked because it played off TDK hype, but it was still a solid story.

Very interesting take on bats/Jokers relationship, couldn't get over the art though.
That cover will always annoy me.

I didn't think it was anything too special. It was a decent story, but I don't think it's anywhere near the Killing Joke in terms of quality.

You sir, are out of your mind, but you are entitled to your opinion

I think the Killing Joke is overrated. Having not read this I won't say it is better, but I don't believe TKJ to be the masterpiece everyone claims it as however, it's still great though.

Having read both, I can say Going Sane is no-where close to TKJ. I think the closest Joker story on par with TKJ is "Joker", which is a great read if you haven't yet

And above them both is Devil's Advocate, Joker's Five-Way Revenge and The Laughing Fish storyline.

I liked Devil's Advocate, but I hated Batman's actions in it. That pretty much makes him responsible for everything the Joker does after that. Sickening

So he was just supposed to let the REAL KILLER walk free for the sake of seeing the Joker put to death?

For me, that isn't in Batman's nature to not solve the crime and find the real person responsible for it, even if it robs him of the opportunity to see his #1 enemy fry in the electric chair.

So Batman should have let the Joker die for a crime he didn't commit, while letting the real killer go free?

Yeah, that's a real definition of a hero

Yes. What he did amounted to setting a Great White shark free and locking up a sandshark. Writers sometimes take his idealism too far.

If anything, Batman should have let Joker get executed and then caught the real killer afterwords. And Batman has seen Joker murder people in person, so its not like there's a reasonable doubt that Joker is a menace.

What are you talking about? Batman didn't let Joker go free. Batman didn't let the Joker be killed for a crime he didn't commit. Joker was not set free.

Had Batman let the Joker die for something he didn't do, knowing Joker was innocent of the crime, then he might as well have pulled the switch himself.

Whether Joker deserved to die or not, it was wrong to let him die for something he didn't do.

If anything, Batman should have let Joker get executed and then caught the real killer afterwords.

As if that would be any better. "Whoops, I allowed a man to die, even though I knew he was innocent of the crimes all along. I allowed my personal hate for the man rule my judgement. But that's ok, here's the real killer. That makes everything alright".

Always been one of my favorite Joker stories and guys the art ain't all that impressive anymore cause this was released during the mid 90's. It will obviously look dated in comparison to anything more recent.

Yeah, Cain, the art is pretty bad. But that's typical for the late-90s and early-00s.

Sure the art sucks, but it could've been worse. What if Liefield was the artist?

*cringes*

One of the best joker stories there is. Alot of people REALLY don't like the art though so be warned. I think the art is pretty cool though, not so much the illustration style but the actual layouts and arrangements I mean.

I love the series' of panels where Joe is trying to suppress the laugh, the expressions on his face
