Just heard about the passing of Henry Hill and after a quick search determined there is no thread for this excellent film. Thought I might try to drum up some discussion. Anyone else seen it recently, or planning to rewatch?

Watched it about one or two weeks ago; still my favorite movie. It's so fun to watch, rivaled by Scarface for most fun gangster picture. I use quotes from the movie whenever I can. I was so stoked when I had my own Billy Batts moment in real life (complete with short friend). This movie is the epitome of cool.

One of the greatest films ever made. Its next to the Godfather, and Shawshank Redemption in my book.

How am I funny? Like a clown?

That is one of the most parodied scenes ever.

Tommy DeVito is one of the most entertaining characters in film history.

I always liked De Niro's Jimmy Conway more than Tommy De Vito. His performance is subtler, but he is the true villain of the film in my opinion. And he's way cooler, let's face it.

Fun movie to quote but never thought it was any thing special cinematically. It doesnt come close to The Godfather.

Yeah, I need to try watching it again.

I've watched it once, and was pretty wholly unimpressed by the plotting, cinematography, and most of the characters.

Although I will say, the scene where Ray Liotta is driving around high out of his mind was probably one of the most memorable singular scenes I can think of.

I know this is a thread about the great film. One of my favorites.

But I heard they are in development for a tv show on AMC. That has me very interested.

Goodfellas and Casino...

DeNiro and Pesci...

a win-win allaround...

One of the best mob movies ever made. I'd say best period, but I still love me some Godfather. This is the most to watch, though.

I prefer Goodfellas to The Godfather. I like that it isn't so romantic. It shows us that gangsters are scumbags, which they are. Incredible characters, editing, camera work, and direction.

Great movie, great ****ing movie.

Yep, my favorite gangster movie. All the leading actors were great and Liotta's narration particularly towards the end was the fat cherry on an already sweet cake.

I was like 11 when that movie came out, and basically got all my info about via Animanics and the Goodfeathers characters.

Supposedly that "how am I funny?" scene was only known to Liotta, Scorsese and the film crew, and Pesci. All the other guys in that scene had no idea what was going on until after it was over, so the reactions were real.

Been forever since I last watched this movie, but I've always been a fan of it. A classic.

That's just awesome. Another reason as to why this movie is one of the best.

If Jimmy had been a capo and Tommy his button, New York would have belonged to them.
