So yeah I noticed that the 300 forum was gone and thought we could have a Talkback/Discussion thread. I didnt search so i there is already one out there dont crucify me.

I seriously think this movie made some leaps and bounds as far as film making goes. It was a great stylized style that fit perfect with the crazy Non-Stop frentic action. It was just good, for me its right up there with Troy, Gladiator and Braveheart. Good filming.

I recently undertook the task of doing a circuit traing program much like the one that was used for the building of these mens bodies and found it to be extremely amazing. Ask about it if you want to know more i did 60 days of training on the program and i feel like im in amazing shape.

SO here it is Discuss.

I love Leonidas's Kill Fenzy. That is just amazing.

Is there seriously only 2 fans of this movie?

A lot of people saw and enjoyed it, it's time kind of came and passed so that's why the discussion isn't popping.

Well, it's making bank on DVD still.

Even if its time has passed does anyone think that maybe this movie will usher in a new age of Sword and Sandal pics?

It's not really that good a movie :( I applaud Synder's visual mastery however he's far from master the craft of good story-telling. The characters are hollow and it's idea of depth is thinly veiled mysoginistic themes... It's really just a homoerotic movie that men watch and love because they wish that life was like that for some odd reason.

IMO its a great little movie not perfect though and Gerard Butler has that amazing intensity that should have gained him the part of Harvey Dent/Twoface in the dark knight.

Bingo. I have a real question for Frank Miller. Changing things about history is fine for storytelling purposes. But why, Frank, did you have an army that in actual history wore armor, did you have them shirtless and in leather speedos?

The movie was good, but i made a comment..so ill put it here.I know it may sound odd,but i thought there was a bit too much action..barely.Some more story would have been nice.

I thought it was a very mediocre movie. The visual style is nice, but I got used to it after a while and wasn't impressed by it anymore. The subplot (that wasn't in the comic) was very boring, and it seems like it was only written to include a cliché speech from the Queen. And the slow-motion was ****ing ridiculous, there was way too much of it.

And I hate David Wenham with a passion. He has the most annoying voice ever, and Snyder made him the ****ing NARRATOR!!!

I did like Butler as Leonidas, even though all he did was scream at the top of his lungs.

I am still surprised how many reguler people dig it. They dont get hung up on wah-wah details like complaining about armor and performances.

You gotta wonder, if the internet was around in the 80's, how some fans would rip on films, and if Arnold would've been a star given how fickle you guys are.

I really dont see how this movie even slightly potrays homoeroticism in any other way that Xerses(Spelling). These were guys that were full on patriots and just died what they thought was the best way to die. It was a good motivating movie.

It was one of the best movies of 07. I watch it from time to time and still enjoy it. Excellent movie.

Yes a great movie but it doesnt have the heart and acting of Gladiator and Braveheart.

Definately one of the best movies of the year, both badass in it's characters and action and beautiful in it's themes and acting.

Finally rented it. Loved it just like I thought I would.

Maybe not the acting of those two but it definatly had the heart. I mean ytou could tell these guys did care about the film. Zach Synder also loved the movie as well he really put alot into it. He even worked out with the guys in Pre-production before to get to know the cast.

The actors and director really giving their all to a movie has nothing to do with the movie having heart.

Well what i was saying was that I could tell that the actors had put there heart into the movie and that came off the screen for me. The movie may not have had the heart of Braveheart but it was definately full of actors that put there heart into it.

This movie was very enjoyable. The visual style is great, and the action is amazing. However, the film's value started to decline to me since I bought the DVD. It's still enjoyable.

It's good but the idea that it is groundbreaking and that there will be more movies in that genre made because of it? Nah. Movies in that genre have always been pretty popular and will continure regardless of 300's existance.

Yeah but it may jump start more movies like this made with a bit more care than they were made with before, ala Alexander.
