Gotham City Impostors

This really is a meh game.

Though I have laughed at some of the quips and dialogue.

Given how Team Fortress 2 is free and super polished, I can't think of any logical reason to pick this up other than not having a capable pc or mac, or being a really big batman fan. I'm still not fully sure exactly what this has to do with batman though. Is it based on a comic book series or something?

There was a Detective Comics arc that came out in 2010 based around the same concept. But that arc was actually based on an early concept for the actual game.

It's pretty much just a multiplayer game that gives an excuse to have people dress up as Batman and Joker and kill each other, while avoiding actually playing as Batman.

Thank god I only downloaded the trial. I didn't even use up the 1 hour time limit.

Monolith really went downhill after fear. I don't mind paying for stuff rather than having to pay tons of hours to get it, if you are someone who is busy, you are basically paying with cash instead of time. Saying though, this isn't a free2play game, it's £11.99. This could become a trend.

I played the trial last night and it was actually better than I expected,Nothing that special and it plays like Call of Duty(which I don't care for)But the weapons/gliding&grappling hook makes it FUN to play with friends!!

I played a few matches, and it seems alright. It's not for me, but I had fun with it.

How is the customization? Can I get my character to actually look like me or is it pre-built models that you just add costumes to?

Having pre-built models is usually a good design decsion for team games. Valve deliberly employes them for Team Fortress 2 because a basic distinguishable shape is instantly recognisable. Likewise with Left4dead, they took into account of havinbg specific shape and sizes for the creators rather than just splodging them all over the place. From what I have heard from this, it's like Call Of Duty in which you create your own class with a gazillion unlocks which usefully means unbalanced as hell.

Is the matchmaking any better? In beta i sometimes couldn't get the match going even when waiting like 10 minutes. I still don't know if i should get this. It was fun, but the matchmaking killed it for me. Also, this game is a travesty of dlc.

You think this game will have players like a year from now? I'm just worried because multiplayer arcade titles seem to die pretty fast.

And thats why the free2play model helps. Sadly, they were too greedy to use that option and the game will probably die off fairly soon.
I wouldn't be surprised if later down the line they turn it free2play or had free2play in the head to begin with down the line, using the launch as a cheapo means of getting more moneyz. This game just wreaks of greed. It's like that short fan movie when batman gets tied up, drugged and raped (look up youtube it's very good).

I downloaded the demo for this. I got up to Level 8 and had just unlocked customization when I had to go out. Unfortunately the demo doesn't save any of that information (but still counts down your time spent) so when I went back to mess around with it I was reverted back to lvl. 1 with 17 minutes left.

It's an OK game, but the maps are all too similar and the gameplay tries to be COD but it isn't as snappy or fun.

That said, if someone made a better fps with cool traversal mechanics, I would play it.

I played the demo. It was entertaining, I'm not sure if I should buy it though.

I ended up buying this and I'm having a ton of fun.

It was nice that all my progress from the demo carried over to the full retail purchase too. To be honest, I've been having way more fun with this than I thought I would. I just find all the lay out and quirky Batman stuff so slick. Haven't had any problems with matchmaking.

Also, all that DLC I thought was ridiculous and lame is customisable stuff you can actually unlock anyway, they just give you the option to pay for it with MS points, which I don't really think is a bad idea.

I downloaded it, it's pretty fun. But I was really looking forward to customizing my character, but it looks like you have to unlock those features. I'm on level 7, when do I actually get to shape my character up?

It's a different kind of process. There are 5 different build types, with 3 different faces for each type of build, and a wide range of costume stuff for all builds. It's one of those games were it doesn't seem like there are huge customisation options, but once you've fully built up a character class you like, your dude looks pretty unique.

New free DLC available now on xbox (coming soon for PC and PS3)

New Map - 25th Floor
New costumes - Including awesome classic Joker suit and ninja outfits
New Weapons - Automatic pistol and katana
aaaaaaand a bunch of other awesome stuff, including improved matchmaking and drop in drop out mp games.

I tried the trial, was eh. Reminded me of cod though. But still on the fence about paying 800 pts.
