Games: Warner Bros Announces New DC Character Fighting Game
If you haven't had your fix of superhero video games then you're in luck. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have just announced a new title they're creating Injustice: Gods Among Us. Creating the title will be NeatherRealm Studios who created the remake of Mortal Kombat last year will be making the game

Yahoo had the scoop on the game, "Injustice: Gods Among Us debuts as a bold new fighting game franchise that introduces a deep, original story featuring a large cast of favorite DC Comics icons such as Batman, Harley Quinn, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and many others. Set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred, players will experience heroes and villains engaging in epic battles on a massive scale."

Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment said, "“With Injustice: Gods Among Us, we are creating an all-new franchise with incredible battles set in the DC Comics Universe. NetherRealm Studios is the extremely talented team behind the latest Mortal Kombat hit and it is developing a game unlike any other in the fighting genre.”

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Basically it seems to be the version of Mortal Kombat vs. DC, but with simply DC realm characters and letting the studio get as gritty, dark and of course "edgy" as possible, hence we got very "Christopher Nolan" inspired outlook on characters, and letting them get as brutal as possible, perhaps even an M rating? MK9 did sell alot right? Eh, i'd still assume it's going to be hardcore T rating, but hey i wouldn't mind being wrong.

Also, I could just imagine the pitch by the costume designer...

Designer: "What if we took a bunch of the top tier DC heros...and gave them Iron Man suits?!"

Designer: "OH! Except for the chicks...we need to be able to see their bewbs.

The costumes look more New-52 inspired to me.

IMO the gameplay looks pretty crappy from the minimal stuff we see in the trailers. MK9 was great because it dropped all the garbage gimmicks from MKvsDC and stuck to a straight-up 2D fighting game. And it was fantastic.

I know DC characters should probably bring more "fun" to the table but all the smashing through buildings, using stage-specific weapons, etc. are all the things that made MKvsDC so awful. For a fighting game, anyway.

The real deal breaker will be if this is in 2D or not. If it's 3D I fully expect it to be a MKvsDC clone.

They should have Zod to promote Snyder's Superman, alongside Hal Jordan & Sinestro to keep the GL franchise going

Im not a big Mortal Kombat fan so if this plays like that i wouldnt be that interested. The costumes arent good either. I'd probably rent this at least thats my opnion until i see more

I'm not interested, but since it's Netherealm Studios doing it, I'll give the benefit of doubt. I still think they should be doing a MK game.

I was happy to hear that NetherRealm Games will be doing more than just Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat...and then we get a DC Fighter that looks like Mortal...Kombat...

I couldn't get into MK (2011). I really tried. I guess I've been spoiled by the traditional Japanese-y fighters (Street Fighter, MvC, KoF) to really get into non-Asian-made fighters (and MK is very non-Asian-made). I loved MK up to 3...but I was young and less critical then.

Anyway, when I heard WB Games wanted a DC Fighter, I thought "gee...wonder which studio is going to helm it? The Arkham City guys, or the guys that already do fighters and already did a DC-MK crossover..."

I hope this game does good. There's no point (this early anyway) to b&^%* and damn this game to failure. MK (2011) I didn't like, but I actually was happy to hear not only did it do very well with just about everyone else, it even outsold Capcom's TWO MvC3 games.

^ See, I'm in the opposite camp: I absolutely love MK9 and still play it almost every day, but I can't stand the hyper-super-combo-insane-flash-seizure-mode Japanese style fighters like MvC and stuff. So, if this game somehow plays just like MK9 but with DC characters, I'd probably get super excited.

But, even from those brief clips, the gameplay looks to be nothing like MK9 and more like MKvsDC. Soooooooo.....

It looks alright. The only costume that bugs me like crazy is Harley Quinn's.
