Grant Morrison OWNS Frank Miller

well, despite some of bendis' work...his run on daredevil was nothing short of genius and one of the best damn superhero comics on the shelf for the five years he was writing it.
His run on Daredevil was more noir than Superhero. Morrison's JLA, All-Star Supes, and X-Men are much better superhero fare, and his Batman is much better hero fare.

Superman fought Hitler during WW2.

How is this any different?

Nah, Supes just slapped Japs :o

I get more of a social commentary/tripped-out psychic powers weirdfest vibe from Morrison's X-Men. Not superhero

Fine, his All-Star Superman and his JLA are more Superhero than Bendis's Daredevil could hope to be.

Did you guys get like this when Millar dropped Ultimate Captain American from an airplane to beat up some terrorists?

I hate Frank Miller, but im sensing a double standard.....

I like what Morisson said before the comment about Frank Miller.

First off, the idea that superhero comics should reflect the news headlines is not one I tend to subscribe to. I've always preferred using my comics to talk about the world around me in the language of symbolism and metaphor and I'm more interested in telling stories about how people behave in bizarre situations than I am in commenting on current events.

And that's what I agree to. You can comment on social situations and events - but in comics it is better done in metaphor and underlying tones rather than just "BATMAN BEATS UP TERRORISTS".

Right not like any comic book characters were involved with any real life events....*Cough cough all golden age heroes fought nazi...hell Cap popped Hitler in the mouth,Nixon being a Skrull, heroes helping at 9/11

what? last i checked, daredevil was a superhero. the story's may have been told in a noir manner, but they were superhero stories. deal with it. bendis can write superhero stories, maybe not all the time, but he can. ultimate spidey has been very good as well.

Morrison's JLA, All-Star Supes, and X-Men are much better superhero fare, and his Batman is much better hero fare.

i never said anything otherwise.

Checkmate has Superheroes, do you consider that a Superhero book? I don't.

Very true. And that's really how it should be for any medium. If you're too obvious about the message you're trying to convey, you come off as preachy and pretentious.

I tend to consider any book with super heroes a super hero book. I don't really look at "super heroes" as a genre. Simply a type of character. Super heroes can and do fit into multiple genres.

Here's their reason "Batman is supposed to fight goons, a crazy villian, and then do the crazy villians girlfriend after he thwarted the villians plans." I think they don't really know what Batman is about actually.

They seem to know what Green Arrow is about... ya heard me!

Thats different. The Ultimates are more of a government/military type of organization, so rescuing hostages from terrorists made sense.

Having a fictional character go up against a real life terrorist group who caused 9/11 is totally different.

It goes to show Frank Miller has lost his mind and thinks w/e he does will be worshipped by his mindlles fanboy army. I am surprised Hot Topic doesn't have "Frank Miller is God" shirts.:(

I pre-ordered the shirt:up: on the back of the shirt it has a picture of Miller owning Superman.

haha, it probably will.:(

This part was good too:

GM: Well, I still intend to do 'Miller'-style first person narrative captions which give some insight into Batman's thought processes but it seems more 'realistic' to imagine Batman as a hardcore fightin' man who wouldn't even notice his injuries until long after the fight was over, so no more of that 'MY BACK SPLINTERS INTO A THOUSAND SHARDS OF AGONIZED BONE. HE'S GOOD. HE'S YOUNG. HE'S TOUGHER AND YOUNGER THAN ME. AND TOUGHER. DID I MENTION TOUGHER ? MUSN'T BLACK OUT...'

I love that part. Morrison just doesn't care.

you trying to tell me that daredevil ISNT a superhero comic? its a comic that involves a man who uses his SUPER POWERS to do HEROIC deeds.

I'm just saying that I saw Bendis's run on the title as more Noir than Superhero. Just like I see Checkmate as more Special Ops than superhero, and it involves people with Superpowers doing heroic deeds.

Thus, it is a super hero book. Way I see it, "super hero" isn't a genre. It's a type of character. Super heroes fit into multiple genres.

oh god...so The Long Halloween wasnt a superhero book either? because that was straight up noir. or, i suppose the green lantern books arent superhero books because that's straight up Sci-Fi, same with superman. as mentioned above, 'superhero' isnt a genre...rather superheros stories work in just about every genre.

so, face it, daredvil is a superhero book, its impossible to deny that. in fact, its ignorant to deny that. daredevil is a superhero and bendis' work on the run was beyond phenominal....deal with it. feel free to hate bendis' work when its bad. but dont be so closed minded as to not give him credit when its clearly deserved.

Hahaha, this has made me love Morrison so much more.

The question will Frank's fans still support him when this is the most blatant example of him going against what made him known and essentially selling out to the hackiest of levels?

Define what makes a superhero book.

then explain how bendis's DD was not a superhero book.
