Fantasy Masters of the Universe - Part 3

I'm sorry, but what is the internet's obsession with Dolph Lundgren? He's a big reason why the original movie sucked. The guy can't f***ing act and never could. I can't believe people seriously wanted him to play Cable.

He's actually quite a good and funny actor now. As good as Arnold ever was.

I'd say the biggest reason the movie sucked is because Cannon was involved. Followed by putting the He-Man characters in a 1980s "real world" setting..

Arnold could never really act..but has gotten much better over the years. Also, I dont care what anyone else says, I dont really think The Rock isnt much different from Arnold either. Hes never going to win an academy award at it. And both Arnold & the Rock have made good careers acting. To me, thats were Dolph falls into, he isnt as bad as you think, and He-Man didnt fail because of him. Its gained in popularity like most other cult films.

Since I don't want Hemsworth to be typecast, and he'll probably be busy, the one I'm rooting for to play He-Man right now is Alan Ritchson. He's got the look, he's already stacked as hell, and he's 32.

Not a bad choice. He's certainly ripped. He might need to add some bulk to play He-Man though. Just my opinion.

So He-Man and Skeletor are back ............................................. for a terrible UK based Moneysupermarket TV ad.

yeh its kinda lame but its also kinda freakin rad!

Check out the behind the scenes making of for this video. The prosthetic muscle suit is great!

As someone that was advocating for a regular built comedic actor to play the part this prosthetic suit shows that its possible. Not to say this suit is the best but you could imagine with a higher budget it could work.

"By the Power of Grayskull ... what a savings."

Saw the BTS stuff. Not convinced a prosthetic suit would work for action/movement. The actor in this ad does very little other than raise his sword and look up.

I'll admit I watched it for entertainment value, but have absolutely no idea why they inserted He-Man and Skeletor into the ad other than the fact they're recognisable - what's the theme? Why are they there?

The moneysupermarket ads often tend to be completely random.

Those production values would work only as a live action campy TV show paired with Sheera for a power hour.

That's true but it didn't help that He-Man himself was a block of (well-chiseled) wood. The director was obviously aware of that fact too, given that Frank Langella's Skeletor felt more like the main character than he did. And it made sense because at least Langella was entertaining.

It also didn't help that He-Man rarely used his sword but used a gun/blaster most of the time.

I think they're afraid of the danger of someone either making it too serious or too tongue in cheek self aware, which I'm sure is justified. I don' think it needs to be GOTG level of wacky, but not like a straight serious film with no gags.

I'm probably one of the few fans of the 1980's movie. Let me clarify I dont think its good, but I like it. Anyway from my research into the making of the film Dolph wasn't into the film soon after production started. Meanwhile Frank Langella actually made up most of his lines and therefore loved it. Which probably led to Frank's lines making the final cut.

Wait... you mean they started production before casting He-Man?

No, I mean Dolph soon after production started began, regretted signing up for the film and it showed in his performance.

Don't get me wrong the kid in me loved the movie and I still have a soft spot for it but even as a kid when watching that movie I couldn't help but think why isn't He-Man using his sword. He-Man doesn't use guns. I was thinking of that and why we don't see Prince Adam or Battle Cat.

Lmao, no I don't take offense at all. Like I said I know the movie is a pos but I still like it. However in 1987 there was no way Battlecat would of been a thing on screen. He used the sword a lot like a light saber, to deflect energy blast and cut through anything.

I don't care when you're kid going to see He-Man you expect to see him use his sword and transform. I also expected to see Battle Cat. It would be like going to see a Thundercats movie and Lion-O hardly ever uses his sword and Snarf would never be there as well.

Skeletor doesn't need a six pack.

What's the alternative, a flabby stomach? Somehow seeing his abdominal muscles is more in keeping with the notion of him being a living walking skeleton (of sorts), than having more meat on his bones.

Or maybe just a regular stomach? Skeletor never was about going toe-to-toe in a physical fight with He-man so I don't see why he needs to be just as muscular.

Accurate to the source for starters. Also, aesthetically it makes it easier to pass off his skeletal head if the rest of his body is extremely lean. Not necessarily bulked like He-Man, but lean.
